Hawaii "Has Committed Suicide" - Local Rages "Hardly Anyone Is Sick, But We're All Broke"

While we have grown used to the people (well, at least those who are capable for thinking for themselves) of Michigan and California complaining that the tyrannical COVID lockdown rules imposed by Governors Whitmer and Newsom are arbitrary and capricious (if not downright unconstitutional), it is less often we hear from those living on the beautiful islands of Hawaii.

For many 'mainlanders', the thoughts of a vacation to Hawaii (or anywhere but the apartment they have been suffering in for 7 months) are heavenly. However, as the following 'rural Hawaiian' exclaims in her Twitter thread, "Hawaii is committing suicide" with its "cargo-cult level bullshit" travel restrictions.

'Mom Folding Laundry' (@Folding_Laundry) begins her righteous rant as follows: "Guys... I cannot tell you how bad it is in Hawaii."

Britain, France, and Germany Spurn US Plan for Iran Sanctions

Trump Administration officials have been saying this for weeks, but on Friday reiterated their intentions to try to enforce a UN Security Council resolution that includes broad sanctions against Iran. Officials say they expect every nation to comply.

The glaring problem with this is that the resolution doesn’t exist, at least not as an active resolution the US wants. The P5+1 nuclear deal gave the US the authority to reimpose sanctions on Iran, but the US had withdrawn from that pact years ago. Though the Trump Administration argued that didn’t matter, the UN has virtually unanimously rejected their interpretation, and rejected the UN Security Council resolution. The US believes the resolution becomes active Sunday, but the reality is it just doesn’t exist legally.

Webmaster's Commentary:

These actions spell desperation on the cusp of madness, and the world is not following suit; so, what is next here, an invasion of Iran?!?

Considering just how "brilliantly" the other US occupations around the world are going, you might imagine it might just be time for a "re-think" on this; but of course, Israel's Bibi Netanyahu will not allow that to happen; he wants the US waging war against Iran, so Israel will not have to.

Hawaii rolling out mandatory COVID-19 testing checkpoints on major Oahu highway… with mandatory vaccines and quarantine camps soon to follow

The State of Hawaii is turning the H-3 freeway on Oahu into a mandatory COVID-19 road block checkpoint, blocking traffic in both directions and subjecting travelers to mandatory testing, reports Hawaii News Now. It means that Hawaii is being rapidly transformed into a medical police state which will soon morph into mandatory quarantine camps like we’ve already seen rolled out in Australia and New Zealand.

State to use entire H-3 Freeway to facilitate COVID-19 testing next week

State and city authorities are planning a full closure of the H-3 Freeway next week to help facilitate surge COVID-19 testing efforts on Oahu, the Department of Transportation announced Thursday.

The multi-agency effort will involve the closure of the freeway in both directions from 7:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 1 and Thursday, Sept 3, officials say.

Testing stations will be set up inside the Harano Tunnel, in both directions of traffic, to maximize the number of individuals who can be tested.

Once individuals have been tested, they’ll be required to continue on to either end of the H-3 before using alternate Koolau routes, if necessary, to continue in transit.

A lake the size of five football fields in Hawaii’s K?lauea volcano is one of the world’s hottest bodies of water, according to a volcano alert issued by the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

A thermal camera used to measure the lake’s water surface temperature reveals that it is between 176 and 185 degrees Fahrenheit. According to the USGS, very few volcanic lakes around the world have surface temperatures greater than 176 degrees Fahrenheit.

U.S. Begins Scaled-Down ‘Rim of the Pacific,’ World’s Largest Naval Exercise

The United States began its biennial Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) naval exercise off Hawaii on Monday, although the event was heavily scaled-down because of restrictions pertaining to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The biennial event, which is typically the world’s largest naval exercise, will run from August 17 to 31, but will feature only around a third of the expected countries and a fifth of the usual personnel. However, U.S. 3rd Fleet Commander Vice Adm. Scott Conn insisted in a pre-recorded RIMPAC 2020 kickoff message that the exercise would still meet its goal of building “interoperability and trust” among Pacific military allies.

Barack and the beach house: Longtime friend 'builds Obama's multi-million dollar Hawaii ocean villa using loopholes to bypass coastal protection laws' on site made famous by TV show Magnum PI

The beachfront compound in Hawaii where former President Barack Obama reportedly plans to someday retire used a planning loophole to retain a seawall that is likely causing beach erosion, according to a new report.

State officials and community members confirmed to ProPublica that Obama plans to reside in the compound on Oahu, which was purchased for $8.7 million by his close friend Marty Nesbitt in 2015.

After tearing down the site's mansion made famous as the house from Magnum PI, developers are building three homes, two pools and a security perimeter on the three-acre beachfront parcel, permits show.

Hawaii reinstates coronavirus restrictions: ‘There’s no question that the virus is surging’

Hawaii Gov. David Ige will reinstate restrictions to curb the spread of the coronvirus as cases in the state continue to grow.

Ige said he will reinstate inter-island travel restrictions beginning on Tuesday, ordering travelers arriving in Kauai, Hawaii, Maui and Kalawao counties to quarantine for 14 days.

Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell said the almost 300 city and county parks on the island of Oahu will close beginning Friday through Sept. 5, including the beaches.

Deep recurring earthquakes detected beneath dormant Mauna Kea volcano, Hawaii

USGS seismologists have detected deep long-period earthquakes beneath the dormant Mauna Kea volcano in Hawaii at depths of about 20 to 25 km (12 to 15 miles) occurring with surprising regularity every 7 to 12 minutes. While low-frequency earthquakes are not unusual, there are no other instances of this kind of repetition anywhere in the world. Essentially, more than one million quakes were recorded from 1999 to 2018. Adding together the energy release of the tremors gives a total that is equivalent to an M3.0 earthquake under Mauna Kea every day.

Several years ago, USGS seismologists tried a new method to detect seismicity at Kilauea Volcano, and out of curiosity, they looked at the rest of the island to see what else they might discover. To their surprise, the scientists found deep earthquakes beneath Mauna Kea-- a volcano that has not erupted in over 4 500 years.

US Military in Hawaii Working on Trump's 'Super-Duper' Missiles, to Host Space Force Soon

The testing of new weaponry is continuing in the state despite opposition from some locals, who say that military test sites have made the islands a potential target for adversaries of the US.

The Pacific Missile Range Facility, Barking Sands (PMRF) located on the Hawaiian island of Kauai will soon be hosting the 293rd Offensive Space Control Squadron of the US Space Force, but will only use the facility's existing capabilities. The squadron will focus on defending US space communication systems from attacks from the outside and conduct electronic warfare in space to disrupt the communications of a potential enemy.

This is not the only important task that the facility is currently doing for the Pentagon. The PMRF is also one of the main testing sites for modern American weapons, specifically missiles, and is used by government agencies and private contractors alike.

Hawaii to Visitors: We’ll Pay You to Leave

In Hawaii, the spirit of aloha normally greets visitors with warmth and welcome. Now, while the state has discouraged visitors by requiring them to self-quarantine for 14 days, that culture of generosity might extend to a free return ticket home.

With a $25,000 grant from the Hawaii Tourism Authority, the nonprofit Visitor Aloha Society of Hawaii (VASH) has instituted a Covid-19 flight assistance program to return travelers who don’t have the means to follow the mandatory 14-day quarantine — including paying for lodging and food delivery — required of incoming visitors.

"Tourist Go Home" – Tensions Soar As Hawaiians Urge Non-Residents To "Leave"

Hawaiians are becoming increasingly angry, not because the tourism industry has collapsed, and 37% of the labor force has just filed for unemployment, but mostly because US mainlanders, motivated by super discounted flights and hotel rooms, continue to pour into the various Hawaiian Islands during the pandemic.

Troy Kane, a local on Oahu, who was interviewed by The Guardian, said residents are abiding by the stay-at-home orders as cases and deaths surge. He points out tourists on the island are ignoring social distancing rules and risk spreading the virus to locals.

Intense Kona Low lashes parts of Hawaii, causing severe flooding in Kauai -- almost 2 032 mm (80 inches) recorded this month

Another intense Kona Low hit Hawaii on Saturday, March 28, 2020, causing major flooding in Kauai island and bringing the total March rainfall amount to nearly 2 032 mm (80 inches).

A rare flash flood emergency was issued for Kauai as another wave of floods hit already soaked island. The worst-affected was the eastern end portion, with up to 254 mm (10 inches) of rain.

Floodwaters submerged vehicles, closed roads and forced residents to evacuate their homes after massive debris from upstream slammed into the Wailua Bridge, creating a makeshift dam.

Hawaii records its first case of new coronavirus

Hawaii officials on Friday said they have confirmed the state's first case of the new coronavirus in a man who had been on a cruise ship from California to Mexico that had other infected passengers.

The man fell ill after flying home to Oahu from Mexico after the Grand Princess cruise that was scheduled Feb. 11-21, Deputy State Epidemiologist Sarah Kemble said. He did not have symptoms of the disease while he was traveling home, which means he wasn't at risk for transmitting the disease to others at the time, Kemble said.

HAWAII LAWMAKERS PUSH SEVERE AMMO RESTRICTIONS

SOURCE: AMMO LAND
In the last year, gun owners across the U.S. have watched in horror as California has rolled out its byzantine and unworkable ammunition restrictions. Since July 1, 2019, gun owners in the Golden State have been required to undergo a background check each time they purchase ammunition. The program has been a disaster. In December, the Sacramento Bee reported that tens of thousands of law-abiding Californians have been improperly denied ammunition purchases under the program, while only 101 were prohibited persons who were rejected. According to the report, “[b]etween July 1 and November, nearly one in every five ammunition purchases was rejected by the California Department of Justice.”

Not to be outdone, California’s neighbor to the left is seeking to outdo the Golden State tyrants with an even more intrusive scheme to harass law-abiding gun owners and ammunition buyers.

In late January, Hawaii lawmakers introduced HB 2736.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF something can be mucked up for Hawaii's citizens in amazing and startling ways, count on the Hawaii Legislature to do just that.

And somewhere, in the richly populated tales of graft, corruption, and massive cost over-runs in the State, one only has to look at Hawaii's "Light Rail to No Where" to understand the degree to which Hawaii lawmakers, have collectively, lost their minds.

Hawaii is urging residents to prepare for a potential breakout of Covid-19 amid new warnings earlier this week from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that the deadly virus quickly spreading across the world could cause a "significant disruption" to American life.

Although there are no confirmed virus cases in Hawaii (the state Health Department says 80 people are self-monitoring for the coronavirus in Hawaii after recent travel to China), the CDC's warning sparked a buying frenzy among residents this week as they emptied store shelves of food and supplies.

Gabbard calls for suspension of Japan, South Korea flights amid coronavirus fears

February 26, 2020 at 11:38 AM HST - Updated February 26 at 5:26 PM
HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard is calling for a suspension of flights to Hawaii from South Korea and Japan amid growing concerns about the coronavirus.

“It is irresponsible for our leaders to endanger the health and well-being of Hawaii’s people by continuing to allow travel from Japan and South Korea," Gabbard said, in a statement Wednesday.

“I know there will be economic hardship, but it will pale in comparison to the cost in lives and economic damage to Hawaii and our country if we don’t suspend travel from these countries.”

The news comes after Hawaiian Airlines announced it would temporarily suspend its service between Honolulu and Seoul.

Service to Incheon International Airport, with five flights a week, will be suspended March 2.

Hawaiian Airlines hopes to resume service April 30.

The reality we must face: Our Country, the United States, is a Rogue Nation and Our Leaders are Criminals

For as long as I’ve been alive, my country has been a rogue state.

Actually, the US became a rogue state four years before my birth in 1949 when, in 1945, Washington decided to bomb two militarily insignificant cities in Japan with its new super weapon, the atomic bomb, instantly incinerating several hundred thousand Japanese civilians, including many, many children, and condemning at least that many more to slow agonizing deaths from resulting cancers and birth defects.

Indictment of Hawaii Ayahuasca Kingpin Paul Sulla Ties Bronfman and Epstein Sex Cults to Silicon Valley’s Mind War

A Hawaii grand jury has indicted the leading U.S. trafficker of the hallucinogenic drug called “DMT”–the “God Molecule” (a.k.a., “ayahuasca”)–on charges of forgery and theft of a religious property stolen from the authors of this report and the Hawaiian people.

The arrest of Paul J. Sulla, Jr., a kingpin in the racket, raises new evidence tying the NXIVM and Epstein sex cults to a ‘Dark Enlightenment’ movement poisoning people globally while challenging the world’s religions and spiritual disciplines.

The ayahuasca crime syndicate is centered in Hawaii and New Mexico, largely supplied by Sulla’s operation on the Big Island, repeatedly neglected by the FBI and enabled by the DEA. In fact, new evidence links the recent emergence the LSD-like drug, and widespread popularity of the ‘religious tea’ falsely presumed to be coming from Brazil, to the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

Pearl Harbor Revisited: Dispelling Surprise Attack Mythology

“I ask that the Congress declare that since the unprovoked and dastardly attack by Japan on Sunday, December 7, 1941, a state of war has existed between the United States and the Japanese Empire.”

Around one hour after Roosevelt’s December 8 address before a joint congressional session, the body declared war on Japan with one dissenting vote, signed into law by FDR the same day.

All wars are unjustifiably justified based on Big Lies and deception, WW II no exception. Roosevelt wanted involvement in Europe’s war. He wanted legislation requiring US neutrality reversed.

After the Japanese code was broken, intercepted cables confirmed an attack was coming. The US tracked its fleet from the Kurile Islands to its North Pacific refueling point en route to Pearl Harbor on or about December 7.

ISRAELI GOVERNMENT TO EXPAND GLOBAL ARMS EXPORTS IN 2020

SOURCE: MIDDLE EAST MONITOR
The Israeli government is aiming to increase the volume of Israel’s defence exports, reported Globes, which has revealed the main points of the plan for the first time.

The project, being overseen by the Defence Ministry’s International Defence Cooperation Directorate (SIBAT) led by Brigadier General (Res.) Yair Kulas, will begin to be rolled out in early 2020.

According to Globes, the plan is based on “focused seminars for senior commanders in foreign armies”, Israeli military “assistance for promoting sales of Israeli weapons”, and “subsidising small and medium-sized defence companies seeking to sell arms around the world”.

Speaking this week, Kulas said that SIBAT favours a major expansion of agreements between countries, resulting in significant deals for the large defence companies, especially Elbit Systems, Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and Rafael Advanced Defence Systems.

WHOOPS, MY FINGER SLIPPED! HAWAIIANS PANIC AS POLICE TRIGGER FALSE TSUNAMI WARNING DURING TRAINING

SOURCE: RT
n a somewhat disturbing case of deja vu, the emergency warning sirens sounded in several parts of Hawaii early Wednesday evening, evoking memories of January’s false ballistic missile alert.
The alarm was inadvertently set off during Honolulu Police Department dispatcher training, which for some bizarre reason was being done on live equipment rather than with training software.

“I just want to apologize [to] the public,” Police Chief Susan Ballard said in an interview with Hawaii News Now. “It was just a very [simple] mistake. We need to do better.”

In this instance, it took 12 minutes for state agencies to confirm to the public that it was a false alarm, compared with the 28-minute delay in January.

***NO TSUNAMI THREAT*** We have received phone calls about sirens going off across Oahu, but we have confirmed with the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center that there is NO TSUNAMI THREAT. #hiwx #tsunami

How Does This Keep Happening? Cop Guilty of Raping 5yo Girl Gets NO JAIL

By Matt Agorist

Honolulu, HI — For years, the Free Thought Project has been reporting on case after case of police officers caught raping, molesting, and abusing their victims. All too often, these officers are let off with little to no punishment. Many of these officers were caught sexually abusing children only to be let loose in society after flexing their blue privilege. In the instance below, that is exactly what happened as a Honolulu cop will avoid any time behind bars despite multiple child sexual assault charges.

Disgraced Honolulu officer Teddy O. Van Lerberghe, 45, flexed his blue privilege when he reached a plea deal with prosecutors guaranteeing he will not go to jail. This plea deal was based on the victim’s desire not to see her abuser locked up. This is likely due to the fact that the victim is a family member...

Leprosy Persists in Los Angeles County, and Elsewhere

Just great! Biblical Diseases are back!

By Will Boggs MD

August 15, 2019

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Leprosy, also known as Hansen's disease, is rarely seen in the United States, but cases continue to emerge in Los Angeles County, a new report says.

"Hansen's disease still exists, and we need to educate medical students and physicians," coauthor Dr. Maria Teresa Ochoa from Keck Medical Center of the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, told Reuters Health by email.

Dr. Ochoa and colleagues identified 187 patients with the disease in a review of medical records from their leprosy clinic spanning 1973 to 2018. Most patients were Latino, originating from Mexico, and they experienced a median delay in diagnosis of more than three years, the team reports JAMA Dermatology, online August 7.

The End of Tulsi Gabbard?

It is unfortunate that Tulsi Gabbard succumbed to the Israel Lobby. The forces of the Empire saw it as a sign of weakness and have set about destroying her.

The ruling elite see Gabbard as a threat just as they saw Trump as a threat. A threat is an attractive political candidate who questions the Empire’s agenda. Trump questioned the hostility toward Russia orchestrated by the military/security complex. Gabbard questions the Empire’s wars in the Middle East. This is questioning that encroaches on the agendas of the military/security complex and Israel Lobby. If fear of Israel is what caused Gabbard to vote the AIPAC line on the bill forbidding criticism of Israel, she won’t be able to stick to her line against Washington’s aggression in the Middle East. Israel is behind that aggression as it serves Israeli interests.

With nearly two dozen declared candidates competing for the 2020 Democratic Presidential primary field and the opportunity to run against Donald Trump in the general election, it’s no surprise that candidates are trying their best to “destroy” their opponents during the debates.

During yesterday’s second night of the second Democratic Debate, Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii, brought up California Senator Kamala Harris’s record as prosecutor. She said, “I’m concerned about this record of Senator Harris. She put over 1,500 people in jail for marijuana violations and laughed about it when she was asked if she ever smoked marijuana”.

Jason Momoa delivers passionate address to protest the Thirty Meter Telescope construction on sacred site Mauna Kea

Jason Momoa delivered a passionate address to protesters at the proposed Thirty Meter Telescope construction site on the sacred grounds at Mauna Kea in Hawaii.

The Aquaman star got choked up when he addressed the crowd, apologizing that it took him 'so long to visit,' according to Hawaii News Now.

Not a drill: Hawaii missile false alarm caused surge in anxiety with lasting effects, report says

A false alarm ‘incoming missile’ alert sent to people in Hawaii in January 2018 had a lasting effect on anxiety levels, a new study has shown. People who were less anxious beforehand were most affected by the incident.

“Ballistic missile threat inbound to Hawaii,” the erroneous text message said. “Seek immediate shelter. This is not a drill.” It took 38 minutes before a second text was sent out confirming the first alert was a false alarm.

Hurricane Erick churns toward Hawaii with winds of up to 80mph as Tropical Storm Flossie is expected to strengthen to another Pacific hurricane today

As Hurricane Erick gained strength in the eastern Pacific as it churned toward Hawaii, another weather system, tropical storm Flossie brewing farther east is likely to become a hurricane later on Tuesday, forecasters said.

Tropical Storm Erick grew into a hurricane late on Monday in the eastern Pacific, packing maximum sustained winds of 80 mph (130 kph) as it churned more than 1,000 miles (1,610 km) from Hawaii's Big Island.

Erick, the Pacific season's third hurricane, is rated Category 1 on the Saffir-Simpson hurricane wind scale and could reach category 3, with sustained winds of more than 111 mph (178 kph) in the next two days, the National Hurricane Center in Miami said.

Tulsi Gabbard sues Google over censorship claims

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii), a 2020 presidential contender, is suing Google over claims that the tech behemoth violated her right to "free speech."

In a federal complaint filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Gabbard alleged Google censored her presidential campaign when it suspended their advertising account for several hours last month.

A Google spokeswoman pushed back on Gabbard's claims in a statement to The Hill, attributing the brief suspension to sudden "large spending changes" that set off Google's automated systems.

"We have automated systems that flag unusual activity on all advertiser accounts – including large spending changes – in order to prevent fraud and protect our customers," the spokeswoman said.

Hawaii telescope protest shuts down 13 observatories on Mauna Kea

Hundreds of protestors have blocked construction of the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) on Mauna Kea in Hawaii. Thirteen astronomical observatories that call the mountain home have evacuated workers and curtailed their operations.

Work on the TMT was set to resume on 15 July after a four-year delay caused by legal challenges and protests. Hawaii’s state supreme court ruled in October that the TMT’s construction permit was valid.

But last weekend, opponents of the telescope began gathering at a site at the base of the access road that leads up Mauna Kea. They sang, held signs and spoke out against the TMT, which they believe will further despoil a sacred mountain.

Dozens arrested as Hawaiians protest $1.4bn telescope on sacred mountain

Dozens of people have been arrested on Hawaii’s Big Island this week after hundreds of protesters stood, lay and even chained themselves to structures in an effort to stop the construction of a billion-dollar space observatory at the summit of Hawaii’s tallest mountain.

The protests are the culmination of longstanding controversy over the site of the proposed observatory atop Mauna Kea, the highest point in the Hawaiian islands.

Astronomers say the site will offer an unparalleled view into deep space. But many Native Hawaiians consider the mountain sacred, and fear the construction of a telescope as tall as an 18-story building would desecrate it.

$2 Billion US Floating Radar Platform Gets Upgrades as Pentagon Struggles to Find Uses

The Sea-Based X-Band Radar (SBX), a $2 billion floating radar platform used to track ballistic missiles, has returned to Hawaii for upgrades. However, the US Missile Defense Agency is struggling to find uses for the array as better land-based radars are built.

The massive vessel, built on a modified oil rig, is affectionately known by Hawaiians as the “golf ball ship” thanks to its massive, white, spherical radome. SBX returned to the Naval Station Pearl Harbor earlier this week, following an extended stay at sea, for routine maintenance and upgrades, Missile Defense Agency spokesperson Maria Njoku said.

Drudge poll shock: Tulsi Gabbard runaway winner of first Democratic debate

The Drudge Report political website posted a surprising instant poll showing that its visitors believed Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii was the overwhelming victor of the first Democratic presidential debate, polling at almost 35% with 12,314 votes.

Her closest competitor was Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, who was polling at just under 13.5% and 4,791 votes. Julián Castro of Texas and Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey were polling the lowest with less than 5% each.

Tulsi Gabbard Wrecks Dems With Powerful Anti-War Debate Answers

While the rest of the candidates at the first Democratic debate tonight have been doing their best to out-socialist each other, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard has been trying to keep the country out of war.

When asked whether she would rejoin the 2015 Iran nuclear deal—first negotiated by the Obama administration and withdrawn from by President Donald Trump—Gabbard gave an unequivocal yes, while warning about the dire consequences of war.

"War with Iran would be worse than war with Iraq," said Gabbard, an Iraq War veteran. "Donald Trump and his chickenhawk cabinet—Mike Pompeo, John Bolton, and others—are creating a situation where a spark would light a war with Iran. Trump needs to get back into the Iran deal, swallow his pride, and put America first."

Gabbard was most searched Democratic candidate after debate despite getting third-lowest speaking time

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, a relative unknown mired at the bottom of the crowded Democratic 2020 presidential field, was the most searched candidate on Google by the time Wednesday's debate ended, making the Hawaii lawmaker and military veteran one of the night's biggest winners.

Google Trends data show prior to the debate, Gabbard was the most searched only in her home state, while Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., dominated the country’s internet browsers.

That changed when the debate was over, with Gabbard being the most searched candidate on Google in most states, with Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., in a distant second.

Tulsi Gabbard Cleaned up the first Democrat Debate

Watching the Democrat debate/take turn interview, makes it clear why they lose. Everyone there played up a demographic niche and there were no real people. The first words out of some their mouths were qualifiers based on the “as-a” complex. It was rehearsed as heck. Trump will eat these disconnected robot people. There was one exception and that was Tulsi Gabbard. She was the only one who did any real debating. She was the only one to challenge a position that is promoted by the majority of both parties. She was the only one to outline an issue that is actually up to the president, foreign policy.

Credit Card Debt Spikes In Hawaii As Economy Falters

Experian said all 50 states plus Washington, DC, saw an increase in its average credit card debt on a YoY basis.

Hawaii had an average credit card debt increase of 3.4% over the past year, experienced the most significant growth in credit card usage among any state.

Experian said the average credit card debt in Hawaii is approximately $6,500, which is $500 more than the national average.

Separately, a report from WalletHub suggests why Hawaiians are increasingly using their credits cards. The report collected data from 28 key indicators of economic performance and growth from the island state, determined its economy is the worst in the country because of slow GDP growth, low exports per capita, and relatively few tech jobs.

Hawaii reports three more cases of parasitic worms that burrow into human brains

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed three new cases in unrelated adults visiting Hawaii Island from the US mainland, the health department announced. The latest known victims—who became infected at different times—bring the state’s 2018 case total to 10 and the 2019 total to five.

While there were 17 confirmed cases in 2017, the state counted only two cases total in the prior decade. The new case counts indicate a sustained boom in the parasite’s population and spread.

According to new figures from the U.S. Census Bureau, the population of urban Honolulu declined in 2018 for the second year in a row, to 347,397, almost 1.3 percent less than the 2016 count of 351,883.

People aren’t just leaving Honolulu. Hawaii’s population statewide also declined over the past two years. According to the census, statewide population loss was about 3,700 between July 2017 and July 2018, the fifth most in the country.

Earlier this week, I was on KSSK radio host Michael W. Perry’s “Perry & and The Posse” show to talk about the issue.

“We hear large numbers of our local residents are leaving,” said Perry. “”Why would anybody be moving?”

It’s a question that everybody asks. But despite Hawaii being “paradise,” there’s no mystery here.

Corporate Media Target Gabbard for Her Anti-Interventionism—a Word They Can Barely Pronounce

Presidential hopeful Tulsi Gabbard has not garnered much press coverage since announcing her bid on February 2; she’s the 13th-most-mentioned Democratic candidate on TV news, according to FAIR’s most recent count (4/14/19).

But when corporate media do talk about the Hawaii congressmember, they tend to reveal more about themselves than about her.

A veteran of the Iraq War, Gabbard is centering her presidential campaign around anti-interventionism (2/3/19): the belief that US interference in foreign countries, especially in the form of regime-change wars, increases the suffering of the citizens in those countries.

When corporate outlets talk about this anti-interventionist position, they primarily use it to negatively characterize the candidates who espouse it. Few in establishment media seem interested in going any deeper or considering the veracity of arguments raised by anti-interventionists.

Tulsi Gabbard has proved she is ready for America. Is America ready for her?

Since announcing her bid for the Democratic Party nomination in 2020, Tulsi Gabbard has been on a one-woman quest to confront America with reality.
In speech after speech, interview after interview, and in social media post after social media post, the Democratic Party congresswoman from Hawaii has served up a merciless indictment of US militarism, making the elementary point that Washington’s obscenely inflated defense budget and its addiction to regime change wars, military interventions and the subversion of sovereign governments in pursuit of the full spectrum dominance that lies at the heart of the malignant creeds of neoconservatism and liberal interventionism, is harming rather than protecting the interests of the American people.

Would you vote with your feet?

If economic conditions got bad enough, would you choose to live elsewhere?

That’s a recurring theme in the most recent edition of Rich States, Poor States, the ALEC-Laffer state economic competitiveness index written by Jonathan Williams, vice president of the American Legislative Exchange Council Center for State Fiscal Reform, and White House advisers and economists Arthur Laffer and Stephen Moore.

The report examines trends in economic growth, then ranks the economic outlook of the 50 states using 15 different weighted policy variables, from tax rates to labor policies.

For the 12th year in a row, Utah is ranked first overall, reflecting its commitment to pro-growth policies, including low income tax rates, a low sales tax and a business-friendly approach to labor.

INCREASED ACTIVITY AT MAUNA LOA VOLCANO: SCIENTISTS ARE MONITORING NOW

The Mauna Loa volcano is picking up the pace when it comes to volcanic activity. Scientists have begun monitoring the Big Island volcano, just in case, it could erupt violently.

Why Hawaii wants the Navy to move its fuel tanks

Hawaii Department of Health Director Bruce Anderson is urging the Navy to relocate its underground fuel storage facility at Red Hill away from a major source of Oahu’s drinking water.

Anderson told lawmakers Thursday that the state has no power to force the Navy to move the tanks, which sit 100 feet (about 30.5 meters) above a major aquifer, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported on Friday.

Anderson hopes the Navy will agree to reopen a legal agreement entered into in 2015 following a fuel leak at one of its Red Hill fuel tanks.

Anderson said that amending the agreement could make that option more likely. The agreement lays out steps the Navy must take to address fuel releases and increase tank safety.

I strongly supported Mueller being allowed to complete his investigation and submit his findings. Now that Mueller has found no collusion took place, we need to set aside our partisan interests and recognize that finding the president of the United States not guilty of conspiring with a foreign power to interfere with our elections is a good thing for America.

Tulsi Gabbard Challenges US Exceptionalism In San Francisco Speech

Tulsi Gabbard visited the San Francisco Bay Area last weekend. The three term Congresswoman from Hawaii is 37 years old and ethnically diverse. Remarkably, she has 15 years of military experience in the US Army and National Guard as well as substantial political experience. She was elected to the Hawaii State Assembly at age 21.

Tulsi Gabbard supports progressive domestic policy issues including criminal justice reform, healthcare-for-all, national and international steps to protect the environment. She has a high approval rating on gay issues.

What makes Gabbard really distinctive is her emphasis and approach to US foreign policy. While other candidates largely avoid the subject, Tulsi Gabbard says the issue is “central” to all other issues. She says we need to change the policy of “regime change wars” and “new cold war” with Russia and China. She advocates cooperation instead of conflict.

Top US General Denies Plans to Leave 1,000 Troops in Syria

US Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Joe Dunford issued a statement Monday denying weekend media reports that the US plans to leave around 1,000 troops in Syria, saying the reports are “factually incorrect.”

Dunford presented the current planned “residual force” as 200, saying that this hadn’t changed since February. The US announced 200 would stay on February 21, but on February 22 officially increased that number to 400.

It’s not clear from Dunford’s statement where the “incorrect” aspect of the new report, which came out of a Wall Street Journal, exists. That report suggested that the 1,000 figure was not yet finalized, but was being discussed. Dunford’s comments didn’t include any details on what is actually being discussed, but just that nothing was finalized.

I think the multiple troop numbers being given, are simply a way of creating confusion about how many US troops the US does have in Syria.

Representative Tulsi Gabbard has made reforming United States foreign policy, particularly ending what she calls “regime change wars” and the “new Cold War and nuclear arms race,” central to her 2020 presidential campaign. She is virtually the only presidential candidate warning of the specter of nuclear war.
At a CNN town hall at South By Southwest on March 10, Gabbard contended, “We are in a situation today where we, here in the United States and the world, are at a greater risk of nuclear catastrophe than ever before in history.”

“My commitment in fighting to end these counterproductive regime change wars is based on these experiences and my understanding [of] the cost of war and who pays the price,” Gabbard added:

Yes, it is our service members. It is our troops. It is our military families. It is the people in these countries, where these wars are waged, whose suffering ends up far worse after we launch these regime change wars.”

Legislators Response to Federal Rail Probe: Cancel State Audits

CB: … State lawmakers want to repeal an annual rail audit requirement in part, they say, to get out of the way of federal investigators now probing the multibillion-dollar transit project.

(Reality: They don’t want auditors to uncover even more, so they are de-funding the audits.)

On Tuesday, the House passed House Bill 118, a measure that was overhauled earlier via the “gut-and-replace” procedure. The revised bill would free the state auditor from having to inspect Honolulu rail’s invoices each year, making sure those expenses comply with what state law allows.

A similar measure is moving in the Senate.

As part of their 2017 rail bailout, state leaders gave the Department of Accounting and General Services $400,000 to verify that all rail expenditures are legitimate — that they relate directly to construction — before reimbursing the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation for the costs.

South Dakota law school: Hawaiian Day is offensive. Hawaii state rep: No it's not.

The University of South Dakota allegedly pressured the Student Bar Association to change the name of its event from “Hawaiian day” to “Beach Day.” However, after first keeping leis in the program, USD later advised against wearing them, calling them “culturally insensitive.”

Now, a Hawaii state representative is accusing some at USD of having “their head stuck in a snowbank.”

“The lei is a symbol of our Aloha spirit in Hawaii, inclusive and welcoming. One individual’s objection to its use at a festive event is both patronizing and an insult to our island tradition"

Hawaii state Rep. Bob McDermott commented on the situation in a letter to the editor published by the University of South Dakota's school newspaper, The Volante, and claimed that usage of the leis is not offensive, but honorable.

Carbon Tax Crosses over to House

CB: … the climate commission’s work has only begun. In November, it unanimously called on the Legislature to pass a carbon tax to incentivize people to change their habits for the planet’s well-being (environmentalists’ private profit)….

On the Senate side, the biggest is a proposed carbon tax — a sweeping environmental policy reform that would affect virtually everyone in Hawaii.

Senate Bill 1463, introduced by Sen. Karl Rhoads and six colleagues, unanimously passed the 25-member chamber. It was transmitted to the 51-member House on Tuesday.

It’s the only version of a carbon tax still alive. Two House bills, far different than Rhoads’ proposal, died without a hearing. One related measure, House Bill 1584, is still moving forward but it only calls for a study by the University of Hawaii….

SCR42: After Partying with Mafia Hitman, Sen Stanley Chang Proposes Repeal of 2nd Amendment

A group of Hawaii state legislators wants Congress to repeal the right to bear arms — or at least specify that it is not an individual right. The resolution filed Tuesday in the Hawaii Senate, SCR42, is backed by freshman state Sen. Stanley Chang, best known for defeating the chamber’s last Republican in 2016.

Chang’s measure, which has four co-sponsors, would request Washington discuss either scrapping the Second Amendment altogether or clarifying that it only applies to organizations such as state militias.

Chang, a Honolulu attorney who studied law under now-U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, throws rocks at the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2008 Heller ruling that held the Second Amendment protected an individual right to arms.

LAWMAKERS IN HAWAII PROPOSE REPEALING SECOND AMENDMENT

Legislators in Hawaii, which has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the United States, moved this week to bring their concerns about the Second Amendment to the national level.

In Senate Concurrent Resolution (SCR) No. 42, introduced Tuesday, Democratic lawmakers assert that

in light of the numerous tragic mass shootings at schools, work places, and public events, this body believes that it is necessary to repeal or amend the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution.

In the resolution, lawmakers urge Congress to

a"dopt a proposed amendment to the United States Constitution pursuant to article V of the United States Constitution to clarify the constitutional right to bear arms."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Senator Mazie Hirono is not confused: she is willfully ignorant

They are NOT going to get this ratified by Congress, nor should it be.
