The Houthis have brilliantly destroyed the value of Aramco. Saudi Arabia is finished and will soon become part of the Shiite Crescent!
Now that I’ve had a week to process it, the attack on the Saudi Abqaiq oil processing facility was more than a brilliant operation, it was a trap.
And, unfortunately, President Trump just fell in it.
My initial reaction to this was that it could have easily been a false flag to gin up a war with Iran on the eve of Israeli elections. The initial spate of questions hadn’t been answered adequately.
As the week went along, however, it became clear that the responses from all concerned to this attack that the those that took responsibility for it, the Houthis in North Yemen backed by Iranian technology, were the ones that did it.
And it all comes down to the same thing, the Saudi Aramco IPO.
(Sigh) President Trump, a word, please.
I understand that you greatly admire your two BFFs in the Middle East, The Butcher of Yemen, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and the Butcher of Gaza, Israel's Bibi Netanyahu, primarily because they seem to be able to get away with anything, including murder, and never seem to have to pay a moral or political price for their actions.
I would like to politely suggest, Mr. President, that those days may well soon be over for both men.
Former Prime Minister Netanyahu was unable to create a majority for the Israeli government, and is awaiting his fate on corruption charges.
IF in fact these charges indicated above are proven true, your BFF in Saudi Arabia, the Butcher of Yemen, may well be facing a "coup-coup-a-CHOO!!", courtesy of other family members who never believed he should have been given the title of Crown Prince by his dad in the first place.
IF, in fact, by some miracle, you are re-elected in 2020, I would strongly caution you to only have around you moral and ethical people who really care about the future of this country (not just the fatness of their own wallets), and understand that the actions of this current administration appear to be those archetypal "last gasps of an empire in decline", and wish to see this country change course before it is too late.
And it well may be too late to save any vestiges of this country; I say that as someone who cares about this future of the US (because Mike and I have young family and we want to see them all thrive and survive); unfortunately, its leadership has dug itself into so many holes, post World War II, from which there is no return, that I cannot begin to enumerate them.
And one final observation, President Trump; your having positioned yourself as this country's "Merchant of Death in Chief", by signing off on weapons sales to Saudi Arabia, in its continuing, unmitigated genocide in Yemen, has not done much to endear you to those people in this country, and on the planet (I am one of them) who sincerely wish to see this country prosper by promoting peace, prosperity, innovation and through intelligent, moral, hard-won negotiations.
