US Intervention Will Only Make Middle Eastern Turmoil Worse

Recently, the U.S. government has been dealt setbacks in five of the seven developing, Islamic countries in which its military recently has attacked or invaded since 9/11 – Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, and Yemen. In the other two countries, Pakistan and Somalia, the situation remains extremely unstable.

Blumenthal's State Dept. role went far beyond Libya

New emails released by the State Department late Tuesday reveal a controversial aide played a much larger role in advising Hillary Clinton than the former secretary of state originally suggested.

Sidney Blumenthal, a Clinton confidante whose potential employment at the State Department was nixed by Obama administration officials, advised Clinton on the content of her speeches, on political developments in a number of countries and even on how her policies were playing in the international press.

The new records, all sent during Clinton's first year in office, indicate Blumenthal's advisory role went far beyond the informal intelligence memos he prepared for her about Libya. In fact, the emails suggest Blumenthal performed the duties of a full-time State Department staffer, despite being on the payroll of the Clinton Foundation during the same time period.

Is the TPP Okay With Slavery? Really?

So the fast track plan to pass the Trans-Pacific Partnership has run into a new wrinkle after an amendment passed in the Senate debate: slavery. Yes, really, slavery: the Senate voted for an amendment that would make it more difficult for countries that engage in slavery to be in the TPP, and the Obama administration objected.

As Iran nuclear deadline passes, narrative battle heats up

The real issue holding things up is whether the Americans have the "political will" to make that leap, to agree in writing to its obligations (without 100 caveats) and the courage to face their sprawling bureaucracy whose bread-and-butter is the 'sanctions industry' and the 'Iranian enemy.' says Sharmine Narwani

It’s D-Day in Vienna, and the parties sitting across the negotiating table still haven’t ironed out terms to settle a 12-year standoff over Iran’s nuclear program. Expect this deadline to be missed. And prepare for a lot of hot air to fill its space.

The “hot air” is calculated narrative-spin from a range of players that seek to 1) scuttle a deal, 2) increase pressure/create leverage at the negotiating table, or 3) frame an upcoming agreement in language favorable to one side.

UN Human Rights Council to condemn Israel over Operation Protective Edge, but not demand sanctions

The Palestinian resolution that will be brought to a vote on Thursday in the United Nations Human Rights Council concerning the international commission of inquiry’s report into Operation Protective Edge is expected to be harshly critical of Israel – but will not contain a demand for sanctions or any concrete moves against Israel, as indicated by a draft of the proposal seen by Haaretz.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Sanctions would have to go through the Security Council, where the US would use its veto to protect Israel's crimes yet again.

Greece – A Moving Target

Mr. Tsipras lets it be known that if the Greek vote ‘yes’ – for the austerity program, he may resign – that might bring the hegemon’s desired ‘regime change’.

Greece is a moving target. A new bail-out package in the wings? Being negotiated as these lines are going to print? An act of desperation? – Confusing for sure – for the electorate, for observers – but especially for the suffering every-day Greek. Almost hour by hour things are changing.

A last-minute, last ditch negotiation with Brussels for a new bail-out program has apparently been initiated by Athens for two years. No amount has been mentioned – let alone the austerities that Greece would have to accept – or the troika.

The Care and Feeding of a Financial Black Hole

Do you like your black hole? If you aren't sure you like it, then let me ask you some other questions: Do you like the fact that your credit cards still work, or that you can still keep money in the bank and even get cash out of an ATM, or that you are either receiving or hope to eventually receive a pension? Do you like the fact that you can get useful things—food, gas, airline tickets—for mere pieces of paper with pictures of dead white men on them? Do you like the fact that you have internet access, that the lights are on, and that there is water on tap? Well, if you like these things, then you must also like the financial black hole, because that's what's making all of these things possible in spite of your country being bankrupt. Perhaps it's a love-hate relationship: you love being able to pretend that everything is still OK even though you know it isn't, and you wish to enjoy a bit more of the business-as-usual before it all goes to hell, be it for a few more days or another year or two; but you hate the fact that eventually the black hole will suck you in, after which point things will definitely... suck.

All sort of things in these negotiations are going on behind the scenes, not only between the P5+1 and Iran but between the Western allies as well.

Letter signed by 22 senators urges Obama to support Israel

Nearly one-quarter of the U.S. Senate signed on to a bipartisan letter urging President Barack Obama to support Israel around the world.

Twenty-two senators signed the letter, which was written “in response to your welcomed recent remarks at Congregation Adas Israel” on May 22 concerning his commitment to Israel’s security. The letter was sponsored by Sens. Mike Rounds, R-S.D., and Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y.

While welcoming Obama’s “unwavering commitment” to Israel’s security, the signers also want the Obama administration to remain committed to the United States’ “long-standing policy” of negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians as the way to peace.

The letter specifically asked the administration to oppose Palestinian efforts for membership in the United Nations and other international bodies.

Webmaster's Commentary:

How nice that everything is running so well in our country that those Senators have nothing better to do than worry about Israel and Palestine, and work towards peace by blocking Palestinian statehood wherever they can!

Dear Senators, if you love Israel that much, kindly move there and vacate your office for someone concerned with America and Americans!

Hillary Lucks Out; News on Emails She Failed to Turn over Got ‘Lost’ on Biggest News Day of the Year

Yes, Hillary sure did luck out didn’t she?

News hit that, despite her promises that she turned over each and every email during her tenure as Secretary of State, the State Department found at least 15 emails Hillary Clinton did not turn over (via The New York Times):

The State Department said on Thursday that 15 emails sent or received by Hillary Rodham Clinton were missing from records that she has turned over, raising new questions about whether she deleted work-related emails from the private account she used exclusively while in office.

But, considering the news didn’t fully break until the same day that the Supreme Court upheld gay marriage and that’s all anyone was talking about that day in the mainstream press, no one likely even saw buried headlines about Hillary’s “lost” emails.

Oh, and the emails just so happened to be about Libya, too.

FBI Files Dig Up Shocking Dirt From Top Obama Adviser’s Past That Could Explain A Lot

The Obama adviser’s father-in-law, Vernon Jarrett, was also a communist according to FBI documents obtained by Judicial Watch. The agency considered him a potential Communist saboteur, who was to be arrested in the event of a war with the Soviet Union.

According to Judicial Watch, Jarrett herself is a “liberal extremist” who, like the president, had strong ties to Frank Marshall Davis — a member of the Communist Party with an extensive FBI file.

Obama wrote about his mentor “Frank” (Marshall Davis) in his best-selling memoir Dreams From My Father(2005). He mentioned him 22 times in the book by his first name, with various other references as well. The president wrote about a conversation he had with Davis in the late 70’s as the young man prepared to leave Hawaii to go to college on the Mainland.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Frank Marshall Davis was Obama's true biological father. He met Obama's mother while attending the University of Hawaii, and paid for his schooling as a part-time pornographer. Obama's mother was one of his models. Obama is a 60s love child.

Remember when Obama talked about his father's service in WW2? Neither Soetero nor Obama sr. served in the military, but Frank Marshall did.

The confusion over Barack Obama's birth certificate comes from a common practice in the 60s where a man marrying a woman who already had a baby would not bother with the legal adoption process, but merely ask for a new birth certificate with the correct name to be issued. That was the source of the "birther" nonsense.

More at Obama the love child?

From Kosovo to Crimea — Tales of Referendums

To President Obama it is irrelevant that the vast majority of Crimean citizens want to belong to Russia. His hatred of Russia and especially of President Putin has tipped any balance he may have displayed and is now extreme to the point of being malevolently insulting. He is increasingly intent on confrontation and has stated that the decision of the citizens of Crimea to accede to Russia is illegal. The White House announced that "We reject the 'referendum' that took place today in the Crimean region of Ukraine", and Obama declared "I again call on Russia to end its occupation and attempted annexation of Crimea".

New NSA whistleblower suspected behind French president surveillance leak

American and European security agencies are reportedly investigating a possible new whistleblower behind the WikiLeaks publication that exposed alleged NSA spying on top French officials, including three presidents.

The website on Tuesday released what appear to be classified NSA documents alleging the US agency spied on three successive French presidents: Jacques Chirac, Nicolas Sarkozy and incumbent François Hollande.

Responding to the report, Hollande called such activities unacceptable, while the French justice minister said WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden could be offered symbolic asylum in the country. US President Barack Obama assured his French counterpart the US hadn’t spied on him.

The Delphi Declaration – Paul Craig Roberts

The Delphi Declaration asks the European peoples, especially the Germans, to do the right thing and object to the plunder of Greece by the One Percent.

This appeal to goodwill is likely to fall on deaf ears even though the pillage of Greece will create a precedent that can then be applied to Italy, Spain, France, and even Germany.

European governments, European institutions and the IMF, acting in close alliance, if not under direct control of big international banks and other financial institutions, are now exercising a maximum of pressure, including open threats, blackmailing and a slander and terror communication campaign against the recently elected Greek government and against the Greek people.

Lower US Flag on 4th of July

We need to do a lot more searching, a lot deeper digging, if we're going to root out and destroy the virus that has been killing us for centuries!

For over half a century, I’ve written articles against racism and war. I was shocked and I grieved to see what happened at the Charleston Emanuel Church. Quickly, the call went out: We need to have a “conversation” about race in America! And, almost as quickly: Take down the Confederate flag! But, let’s be very clear: the Confederate flag is NOT a central issue here.

On the 4th of July, when Americans raise their flags as a proud symbol of their “freedom,” will anyone dare to lower their flags to half-mast to commemorate the 60,000 Americans who died in a now-acknowledged “unnecessary” war in Vietnam– let alone the millions of Asians?

Would it be disrespectful even to suggest such a gesture?

We restarted the Cold War: The real story about the NATO buildup that the New York Times won’t tell you

As of this week, leaders who know nothing about leading, thinkers who do not think and opinion-shaping poseurs such as Tom Friedman are confident enough in their case to sally forth with it: The Cold War returns, the Russians have restarted it and we must do the right thing—the right thing being to bring NATO troops and materiel up to Russia’s borders, pandering to the paranoia of the former Soviet satellites as if they alone have access to some truth not available to the rest of us.

James Stavridis, the former admiral and NATO commander, quoted in Wednesday’s New York Times: “I don’t think we’re in the Cold War again—yet. I can kind of see it from here.”

I can kind of see it, too, Admiral, and cannot be surprised: NATO has missed the Cold War since the Wall came down and the Pentagon’s creature in Europe commenced a quarter-century of wandering in search of useful enemies. At last, the very best of them is back.

State Dept. admits Hillary Clinton may have lied about Benghazi emails

With the U.S. Supreme Court's Obamacare decision on Thursday getting enormous media attention, hardly any news coverage was given to the State Department conceding that it received 15 emails involving Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton it did not previously possess on the Benghazi terrorist attack and its aftermath, according to the House Select Committee on Benghazi's chairman, Rep. In essence, it shows that Hillary Clinton, once again, is alleged to have lied about the emails she claims she turned over to the State Department from her possibly illegal Internet server.

US Double Standards on UNHRC treatment: Sri Lanka & Israel

Sri Lanka and Israel have been both accused of violating international humanitarian law (IHL) and international human rights law (IHRL) at UN Human Rights Commission in Geneva, but in dealing with these two nations the United States has taken two contradictory positions: the US has supported the Israeli decision to boycott the UNHRC sessions that discuss Israeli violations while the US was critical of the previous Rajapaksa regime's decision to maintain a distance from the Geneva process. American Abrams Battle Tanks Fire in Bulgaria for First Time

American battle tanks will be deployed to Bulgaria this weekend and conduct live-fire exercises across the Black Sea from Russia for the first time.

Breaking: Supreme Court Approves Obamacare Subsidies

Last year, a federal appeals court ruled against the legality of some Obamacare subsidies that were issued to people who bought insurance through HealthCare.gov. The language in Obamacare actually restricts subsidies to state-run exchanges.

Only 17 states ran their own exchanges. The federal government took over for the states that opted out of operating their own exchanges – and the court’s ruling says that the federal government may not pay subsidies for insurance plans in those states.

The issue found its way to the Supreme Court, which announced its decision on those subsidies today...

Supreme Court approves Obamacare subsidies on HealthCare.gov

Obamacare just survived a potentially fatal heart attack.

In a major decision, the U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday ruled in a 6-3 decision that the federal subsidies that help nearly 6.4 million people pay for their Obamacare health plans are legal under the Affordable Care Act.

The ruling avoids what many analysts predicted would be a nightmare scenario if the plaintiffs had won: individual plan insurance prices skyrocketing in two-thirds of the United States, and the loss of health coverage for upwards of 8 million people in states served by the federal insurance marketplace HealthCare.gov by next year.

Any time the government restricts or overly taxes a vice, it doesn’t go away, it just goes underground. Now those same market forces are stifling the government’s attempts to help our kids eat “healthy” meals.

Michelle Obama’s lunch regimen is apparently so atrocious, that it has created a black market for condiments in some of America’s schools.

Senate passes trade 'fast track,' handing Obama a major victory

The Senate voted Wednesday to give President Barack Obama "fast track" authority to negotiate trade deals—one of the final steps in a long political battle that pitted the White House against House Democrats.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Well if the Congress is not going to exercise their Constitutional duty of oversight on the Executive Branch, then let's fire them all and turn the Capitol building into public housing for the poor!

Propaganda Reigns In The West

It is extraordinary that the cooperation between Russia and the US created over the decades by successive administrations, beginning with John F. Kennedy and culminating in the end of the Cold War with the Reagan-Gorbachev agreements, has been destroyed by a handful of American neoconservative warmongers in the past year and one-half. The achievement of a 40-year struggle wiped out overnight by a handful of insane warmongers who believe that Washington has a right to world hegemony.

Sen. Rand Paul to sue IRS, U.S. Treasury

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul will sue the U.S. Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service for denying his constitutional right to vote on treaties that the Obama administration unilaterally negotiated with dozens of foreign governments, The Washington Times has learned.

The treaties, which the administration calls “intergovernmental agreements,” require foreign banks to gather and share private financial information about millions of Americans living and working outside the U.S. – information they would not have to disclose to the U.S. government if they lived and worked in the U.S.

Today I Saw a Weeping Palestinian Man Holding a Plastic Bag of Meat: It Was His Son

I sense I’m breaking an unspoken rule with this letter, but I can’t keep quiet any more.

Today I saw a picture of a weeping Palestinian man holding a plastic carrier bag of meat. It was his son. He’d been shredded (the hospital’s word) by an Israeli missile attack – apparently using their fab new weapon, flechette bombs. You probably know what those are – hundreds of small steel darts packed around explosive which tear the flesh off humans. The boy was Mohammed Khalaf al-Nawasra. He was 4 years old.

I suddenly found myself thinking that it could have been one of my kids in that bag, and that thought upset me more than anything has for a long time.

Then I read that the UN had said that Israel might be guilty of war crimes in Gaza, and they wanted to launch a commission into that. America won’t sign up to it.

Hillary Clinton is a hypocritical cheapskate, says campaign worker

A former campaign worker of self-proclaimed "champion" of the American people, Hillary Clinton, accused the Democrat's heir apparent to the White House on Wednesday of hypocrisy on a grand scale for not paying her interns and fellows who slave for her election as president while she criticizes corporate executives for being selfish cheapskates. Avoiding international affairs issues -- in order to avoid having to explain Benghazi, the Russian reset, her connections with the Muslim Brotherhood -- Mrs. Clinton has zeroed in on what a majority of Americans care about: increased wages and benefits.

Marco Rubio Casts Deciding Vote For Obamatrade Without Even Reading It

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) cast the deciding vote for Obamatrade on Tuesday as it squeeked through the U.S. Senate 60-37, and his Senate office is still outright refusing to answer whether he even knew what he was voting on.

Rubio, a Republican presidential candidate, was the deciding vote necessary for the U.S. Senate to clear the final 60-vote threshold and eventually, later this week, send to President Barack Obama’s desk the Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) bill that would fast-track at least three highly secretive trade deals that Obama has been negotiating for years.

Obama administration rejects further consideration of UN Gaza report

The Obama administration opposes any Security Council consideration of a United Nations report on last summer’s war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

“We challenge the very mechanism which created it,” John Kirby, the State Department spokesman, said Tuesday, a day after the report’s publication.

Has Washington Gone Looney Tunes?First appeared: http://journal-neo.org/2015/06/22/has-washington-gone-looney-tunes/

Given a series of recent speeches by leading US officials and actions, the question must be frankly posed: Has Washington gone collectively looney tunes? Even as the governments of the EU are moving to buck US pressures and ease the sanctions, the Obama Administration seems intent on marching in the direction of a nuclear confrontation with Russia. As the ancient Greek expression puts it, “Whom the gods would destroy they first make mad…” The following recent developments fit that pattern quite nicely, thank you.

UNDER US CORPORATE-RUN MEDIA BLACKOUT, PACIFIC 'TRADE' PACT MOVES STEP NEARER AFTER SENATE VOTE

In a win for Obama and a defeat for labor unions skeptical of the trade deal, the Senate voted 60-37 to limit debate on the fast-track measure. That just barely satisfied the 60-vote threshold needed after two senators who supported the bill on its first run through the Senate a month ago - Republican Ted Cruz and Democrat Ben Cardin - changed their votes to "no."

Gowdy's Benghazi panel releases newest Clinton-Blumenthal emails

“Once again the Benghazi Committee uncovers information that should already be part of the public record but was not made available to the American people or congressional investigators,” said Gowdy. “These emails should have been part of the public record when Secretary Clinton left office and at a bare minimum included when the State Department released Clinton’s self-selected records on Libya. For that reason, the committee has made the decision to release the latest set of Clinton’s public records unearthed by the committee,” said Gowdy, a former criminal prosecutor.

Senate advances fast-track trade bill for Obama

The Senate on Tuesday voted to advance President Obama’s trade agenda, approving a measure to end debate on fast-track authority.

The 60-37 motion sets up a vote on final passage on Wednesday. If the Senate approves fast-track or trade promotion authority (TPA), it would then be sent to Obama’s desk to become law.

Bipartisan distrust of Obama threatens trade deal, remainder of term

Global warming has emerged as the newest battleground on trade, with opponents on both the right and the left trying to use the hot-button issue to sink President Obama’s quest for a legacy-building free trade deal.

Conservatives argue that Mr. Obama will use trade negotiating powers to write a binding climate deal into any agreement and say that alone is reason to deny the White House fast-track negotiating powers.

US, NATO Bracing for Long-Term Standoff With Russia Under Putin and Beyond

Instead of building bridges and accepting Russia's stance as having merit, the US and the North Atlantic Alliance have chosen to immerse themselves in shaping up for a lasting showdown with Moscow.

The standoff could last years or even decades, according to the Pentagon chief, who defended the US and NATO's intensified war-games, expanded military presence on the borders with Russia and increasingly belligerent rhetoric.

“Sentence First, Verdict Afterwards”: The Alice in Wonderland World of Fast-tracked Secret Trade Agreements

While the deals are being negotiated, lawmakers can see their terms only under the strictest secrecy, and they can be subjected to criminal prosecution for revealing those terms. What we know of them comes only through WikiLeaks. The agreements are being treated as if they were a matter of grave national security, yet they are not about troop movements or military strategy. Something else is obviously going on.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I do not consider myself bound by a treaty (or any other obligation) not approved of by all of the people, and by that I do NOT mean that grand asylum for the aged and inform on Capitol Hill, but We The People. If treaties are the highest law of the land they deserve the highest scrutiny and review by the public before passage.

Obama admits: Obamacare website 'disaster'

President Obama made a somewhat shocking admission, given his tendency to divert blame from his own White House – even to the point where the lagging economy has been painted as George W. Bush’s fault several years into the current administration – and said his Obamacare website has proven disastrous.
