Pfizer raises drug prices again, rebuking Trump

Drug giant Pfizer announced on Friday it will increase the list prices of 41 medicines in January, just months after it agreed to temporarily roll back price hikes under pressure from President Donald Trump.

Pfizer's new price increases, which take effect Jan. 15, will apply to 10 percent of its portfolio, the company said. Most of those drugs will see 5 percent increases.

Dear President Trump: If you do not end censorship by Big Tech, you will lose the election and thrust America into a violent civil war

Pay attention to the fact that the intolerant, bigoted Left in America today has zero respect for freedom of speech or the rule of law. Over the last two years, they have been systematically silencing all conservative, Christian and pro-Trump voices in order to deliberately suppress their speech. Now, left-wing tech giants are even silencing whistleblowers like James O’Keefe (Project Veritas), setting a new precedent that says all whistleblowers who make Leftists look bad will be censored and de-platformed.

President Trump, meanwhile, somehow seems to believe he doesn’t need the voices of his supporters anymore. He thinks he can win the election even while his advocates are unfairly silenced by the left-wing bullies of the tech industry who now act like full-blown fascists.

Trump Campaign Fires Pollsters After Internal Numbers Leaked

President Trump’s re-election campaign is letting go of some of its own pollsters after leaked internal polling showed the president behind Joe Biden in critical states, NBC News reports. Parts of the president’s expansive March polling was made public in recent days. The polls reportedly showed the president trailing across 2020 swing states, as well as in reliably red states that haven’t been competitive for decades in national elections. In states where Trump edged Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton by narrow margins in 2016—such as Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Michigan—Trump trails Biden by double-digits. Trump is also behind the former vice president by 7 percentage points in Iowa, but is holding a small lead in Texas. A person close to the Trump re-election team told NBC News that the campaign was would no longer be working with certain pollsters in response to the leaks.

Buttigieg says Trump using Justice Department as 'his own personal law firm'

Pete Buttigieg, a 2020 Democratic presidential candidate, on Sunday slammed President Trump’s recent move directing Attorney General William Barr to look into the origins of the Russia investigation and if U.S. officials improperly surveilled Trump's 2016 campaign.

Buttigieg, whose surprise move from the mayor of South Bend, Ind., to Democratic contender has been a major focus of the early campaign season, lambasted the president for using the Department of Justice as “his own personal law firm.”

“The independence of the DOJ is obviously not something this president respects,” Buttigieg said during an interview on NBC’s “Meet The Press.” “He’s treated it like it ought to be his own personal law firm.”

Trump Warns of Unprecedented Stock Market Crash if He Doesn’t Win in 2020

President Trump on Saturday predicted a stock market crash “the likes of which has not been seen before” if he doesn’t win re-election in 2020. “The Trump Economy is setting records, and has a long way up to go,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “However, if anyone but me takes over in 2020 (I know the competition very well), there will be a Market Crash the likes of which has not been seen before! KEEP AMERICA GREAT.”

The truth...isn’t out there? Trump had meeting on UFOs but ‘doesn’t believe’ in them

In a new twist that will either douse a million conspiracy theories or ignite twice as many new ones, President Donald Trump has said he’s met with officials about UFOs, but also that he doesn’t “particularly” believe in them.

Speaking to ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, Trump revealed that he has been briefed by the military on UFO sightings.

I’ve seen, and I’ve read, and I’ve heard. And I did have one very brief meeting on it. But people are saying they’re seeing UFOs. Do I believe it? Not particularly.

Has Trump painted himself into Israel’s corner over war with Iran?

Is America preparing to go to war with Iran? This is the question dominating discussions around dinner tables as well as boardrooms. Confined not only to the Middle East, where heightened concerns about the fall-out for the volatile region’s future forms part of the focus of debates, this is also a major issue around the world. Europe, Central Asia, the Far East and Africa will not be immune from repercussions of such a war if the Trump administration — which is filled with neocon hawks – starts to bomb and then invade Iran.

Could John Bolton soon be SACKED? Will it avert Iran war? Former CIA agent Kiriakou positive on both

Hawkish National Security Advisor John Bolton has steered the Trump administration towards multiple conflicts. However, CIA whistleblower John Kiriakou tells RT he’s learned that Bolton’s days in the White House may be numbered.

Since joining the Trump administration in April of last year, Bolton has taken the hardest line possible on every geopolitical flare-up. From advocating “humanitarian intervention” in Venezuela, to briefing journalists about a plan to deploy 100,000 troops to the Middle East, to rumors of him “sabotaging” Trump’s summit with North Korea’s Kim Jong-un last year, Bolton has trumpeted escalation and confrontation as a panacea to all of America’s foreign policy ills.

Trump’s Betrayal of White America

“Unlike other presidents, I keep my promises,” Trump boasted in a speech delivered on Saturday to the Republican Jewish Congress at a luxury hotel in Las Vegas. Many in the audience wore red yarmulkes emblazoned with his name. In his speech, Trump condemned Democrats for allowing “the terrible scourge of anti-Semitism to take root in their party” and emphasized his loyalty to Israel.

Trump has kept some of his promises. So far, he has kept every promise that he made to the Jewish community. Yet he has reneged on his promises to white America – the promises that got him elected in the first place. It is a betrayal of the highest order: millions of white Americans placed their hopes in Trump and wholeheartedly believed that he would be the one to make America great again. They were willing to endure social ostracism and imperil their livelihoods by supporting him. In return, Trump has turned his back on them and rendered his promises void.

Abbas: Palestinian people will remain steadfast on their land

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas yesterday laid a wreath at the tomb of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr.

The Wafa news agency reported Abbas saying: “We ask God that Eid would return to us when we liberate our country, establish our independent Palestinian State with East Jerusalem as its capital, and overcome all conspiracies against our cause, including the deal of the century and others. All of the conspiracies will go to hell, and our people will remain steadfast on their land in the face of all these.”

Last month the US announced that it would be rolling out the first stage of it’s Middle East peace plan dubbed the ‘deal of the century’ in an economic forum in Bahrain. The “Peace to Prosperity” conference aims to encourage “investment in the Palestinian territories” ahead of the revelation of further details of the peace plan.

It was always hard to take Jared Kushner seriously.

Responding to an interviewer's question about the capability of Palestinians to self-govern, President Donald Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser questioned their right to self-determination, putting the burden on them to prove they are deserving of freedom, justice, equality and their human rights.

The 'baby Donald Trump' blimp flying over Parliament Square as part of protests during the U.S. President's visit has been deflated by a Tommy Robinson supporter.

An angry woman livestreamed herself attacking the floating object earlier today before being arrested by police.

Protesters first flew a 20ft likeness of the president over the capital in July last year, with London Mayor Sadiq Khan causing controversy by allowing it to be used.

The woman popped the balloon while shouting 'that's a disgrace'. Anti-Trump protesters were pictured packing up the blimp after the incident.

TRUMP SAYS TARIFFS ON MEXICAN IMPORTS GO INTO EFFECT NEXT WEEK; MEXICO THREATENS RETALIATION

Mexico is exploring ways to retaliate against the United States for taking the trade war south of the border. President Donald Trump isn’t content with the punishment levied on the American consumer just yet, so he announced the 5% tariffs on Mexico will take effect on June 10.

Not only would the tariffs increase the prices of vegetables in the U.S., but some reports say up to 400,000 jobs are at stake as well. Wasn’t Trump’s goal to bring work and prosperity to the U.S.? I guess that means through increased costs of goods and lost jobs. These trade wars have never made economic sense and the U.S. is setting itself up for failure. The 5% tariffs on Mexican goods will especially hit Texas jobs hard, according to a report by CNBC.

Trump harming US national security by giving Saudis ‘anything they want’ like nuclear tech

US President Donald Trump’s closeness with Saudi Arabia is harming American national security, says a top senator, slamming the commander in chief’s seven-time approval of nuclear tech transfer to the kingdom, twice in the wake of Jamal Khashoggi’s murder.

American Senator Tim Kaine made the comments in a statement released Tuesday, Politico reported.

“President Trump’s eagerness to give the Saudis anything they want, over bipartisan congressional objection, harms American national security interests and is one of many steps the administration is taking that is fueling a dangerous escalation of tension in the region,” said the Virginia Democrat.

Trump 'Prepared' For Responsibility Of Using Nukes

In a wide-ranging interview with Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain, President Trump said that he's ready to press the nuclear button if and when the time comes.

When asked if he would negotiate with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to avoid war, Trump said "Of course. I've said that and he's said that. I know so much about nuclear weapons and I see the horrible damage done. I don't want that."

Morgan then asked Trump if he would press the nuclear button, to which Trump replied: "I think it’s a terrible responsibility but one I’m prepared to handle," adding "I don’t want to have to think about it, but there may be a time when I do have to think about it."

Trump Insults London Mayor as ‘Loser’ as He Pays Tribute to the Queen

Queen Elizabeth II welcomed President Trump to Buckingham Palace on Monday with an honor guard and royal artillery salute, while Mr. Trump carried on an ugly dispute with the mayor of London, whom he called a “stone cold loser” and said was doing a terrible job of running Britain’s capital city.

The juxtaposition of high pageantry and low name-calling, on the first day of Mr. Trump’s state visit to Britain, captured yet again the odd swath that this president cuts on the world stage: impulsive and erratic, delighted by a lavish welcome but preoccupied by petty feuds or events back home.

Trump gets royal treatment in U.K., to leftists' dismay

President Trump received a royal welcome from Queen Elizabeth II on Monday as he began a three-day visit to the United Kingdom, reviewing troops at Buckingham Palace and being feted at a glittering state banquet — aristocratic reprieves from trading insults with London’s mayor, bracing for leftist protests and grappling with the sticky wicket of “Brexit” on Tuesday.

The president strolled at the palace with the queen before Prince Charles escorted him to a double row of guards, who chatted with Mr. Trump as the queen, first lady Melania Trump and Camilla — the Duchess of Cornwall and Charles’ wife — watched from atop a grand staircase.

The first couple and the British royals ducked into the palace under the booming cascade of drums, setting a decorous tone for a long-delayed state visit that included a tour of Westminster Abbey, tea time and a grand dinner at the palace.

Remember Shakespeare’s line “he jests at scars that never felt a wound?” That epithet could have been written with National Security Advisor John Bolton in mind. He is now credibly believed to be the driving force behind the punishment being meted out to Venezuela and, far more dangerously, of the creeping escalation that is taking place in the Middle East that is seeking to draw Iran into a misstep that would lead to war. Bolton, who has received the “Defender of Israel” award, has long been an outspoken advocate for attacking Iran and now he has the power to do just that.

Despite the Royal Family's painstaking attempts to remain above the political affray, those involved in the planning of the visit are anticipating Trump might use his address at Buckingham Palace to heap praise on the UK's decision to quit the EU.

The mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has compared the language used by Donald Trump to rally his supporters to that of “the fascists of the 20th century” in an explosive intervention before the US president’s state visit to London that begins on Monday.

Writing in the Observer, Khan condemned the red-carpet treatment being afforded to Trump who, with his wife Melania, will be a guest of the Queen during his three-day stay, which is expected to provoke massive protests in the capital on Tuesday.

Khan said: “President Donald Trump is just one of the most egregious examples of a growing global threat. The far right is on the rise around the world, threatening our hard-won rights and freedoms and the values that have defined our liberal, democratic societies for more than 70 years.

Trump becomes first Republican president to promote LGBT Pride Month as he touts campaign to decriminalize homosexuality in 71 countries – but Democrats insist he's not gay-friendly enough in the U.S.

Donald Trump ruffled feathers Friday on America's political left by marking Pride Month with a call to support LGBT people who live in the dozens of countries where being gay is a crime.

It was the first time a Republican president has publicly celebrated the month-long focus on gay rights in the U.S. But LGBT activists and Democratic politicians quickly blasted the president as a hypocrite because his administration has sought to limit transgender rights in the U.S. military and opposes other gay rights proposals that his base sees as too progressive.

'As we celebrate LGBT Pride Month and recognize the outstanding contributions LGBT people have made to our great Nation, let us also stand in solidarity with the many LGBT people who live in dozens of countries worldwide that punish, imprison, or even execute individuals on the basis of their sexual orientation,' Trump wrote in a pair of tweets.

How the War Party Broke Trump

From my distant vantage point in New England, tracking the daily fluctuations of the ongoing Iran war scare poses a challenge. It’s that old problem of distinguishing between signals and noise. These days there is noise aplenty emanating from Washington. That the prospect of yet another Gulf war competes for bandwidth with intensifying efforts to impeach President Trump makes it more difficult still to know what exactly is going on.

‘Donald Trump is going to heaven’: Irish priest backs US president ahead of visit

US President Donald Trump is scheduled to visit his five star hotel and golf course in Ireland next week amid protests. However, the local parish priest believes Trump will not only be welcome in Doonbeg, Ireland, but in heaven.

“Leave us alone” was Doonbeg priest Joe Haugh's message to any protesters thinking of making an appearance at Trump's arrival at his golf course in county Clare next Wednesday.

Ex-CIA Officer: Trump In "Historic Battle" With "Treasonous" Deep State

Former CIA Officer and whistleblower Kevin Shipp says what is going on in Washington D.C. with the “treason” against Trump is unlike anything we have ever faced as a nation.

Shipp explains, “This is an historic battle between the President of the United States and what I call the ‘Shadow Government.’

"Some call this the ‘Deep State,’ and that includes the CIA, the FBI and the NSA. President Trump is the first President to stand up against this Shadow Government. They have been spying on Trump since he was a presidential candidate. So, this is huge, it’s historic and nothing like this has ever occurred in any western government...

2020 Democrats Renew Impeachment Frenzy After Robert Mueller Speaks

Several Democrat presidential candidates on Wednesday took to social media to call on Congress to begin impeachment proceeding against President Donald Trump following special counsel Robert Mueller’s press conference about his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) declared Mueller’s statement “makes clear” that his report is an “impeachment referral” for Congress to act upon. “They should,” she declared.

Bannon: Trump Will Fall When People Realize He’s ‘Just Another Scumbag’

Given how badly he came across in Fire and Fury, you might’ve thought Steve Bannon would be wary about contributing to Michael Wolff’s sequel. But extracts from Siege: Trump Under Fire published by The Guardian Wednesday show his antipathy for his former boss hasn’t cooled down just yet. In the book, Bannon predicts Trump’s presidency will fall after investigations into his finances reveal to his supporters that he’s not some incredible self-made billionaire, but a crook. “This is where it isn’t a witch hunt—even for the hard-core, this is where he turns into just a crooked business guy, and one worth $50m instead of $10bn,” Bannon is quoted as saying. “Not the billionaire he said he was, just another scumbag.”

Mike Pence declares war on the world at West Point

The commencement address Trump's VP, Mike Pence, gave to West Point graduates recently goes down in history for all the wrong reasons.

It was an address littered with war talk that was so extreme it was more compatible with a speech you would expect to hear from a character in a Hollywood spoof than from a leading politician and government official.

This was no spoof, though, be assured, and as such the world needs to wake up to the fact that this administration is staffed with enough cranks and crackpots to fill an entire ward.

Pelosi Brings Up Melania When Criticizing Trump’s Merit-Based Immigration Plan

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi invoked First Lady Melania Trump when attacking the White House’s latest immigration proposal, suggesting the president was a hypocrite for wanting a merit-based immigration system.

“When the president says merit – turn it upside down. It means make America white again, have people leave, just go back and we’ll just let in people we like,” Pelosi said Wednesday while speaking at Commonwealth Club of California.

“I don’t know merit counted for when his wife’s family came into the country. I don’t know. Maybe it did. God bless them if it did. But he calls that chain migration, which he wants to get rid of — family unification, instead call it merit,” the California Democrat added. The comment was in clear reference to Melania’s parents, who became U.S. citizens after she sponsored them.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Dershowitz: Shame on Robert Mueller for exceeding his role

"Until today, I have defended Mueller against the accusations that he is a partisan. I did not believe that he personally favored either the Democrats or the Republicans, or had a point of view on whether President Trump should be impeached. But I have now changed my mind. By putting his thumb, indeed his elbow, on the scale of justice in favor of impeachment based on obstruction of justice, Mueller has revealed his partisan bias. He also has distorted the critical role of a prosecutor in our justice system."

Mueller Resigns From DOJ, Won't Testify, Says "Charging Trump Was Not An Option"

Press Secretary Sarah Sanders has released an official statement on Mueller's statement, as has Trump Campaign manager Brad Parscale.

First, the official White House statement from Sarah Sanders, who called on everybody to follow Mueller's lead and move on.

"The Special Counsel has completed the investigation, closed his office, and has closed the case. Mr. Mueller explicitly said that he has nothing to add beyond the report, and therefore does not plan to testify before Congress. The report was clear - there was no collusion, no conspiracy - and the Department of Justice confirmed there was no obstruction. Special Counsel Mueller also stated that Attorney General Barr acted in good faith in his handling of the report. After two years, the Special Counsel is moving on with his life, and everyone else should do the same."

Mueller Says His Team Did Not Have ‘Option’ of Charging Trump with a Crime

Special counsel Robert Mueller, making public remarks on Wednesday, explained bluntly that his team did not have the “option” to charge President Donald Trump with a crime.

That’s because of longstanding Justice Department policy.

He said that if the team had “confidence” the president did not commit a crime, the special counsel’s report would have made that point.

Speaking from the Justice Department on Wednesday morning, he announced the closing of his office.

Mueller reveals charging Trump was 'NOT AN OPTION' because of Justice Department rules as special counsel resigns saying he did NOT clear the president – triggering Democrats to ramp up impeachment calls as Trump tweets 'The case is closed!'

Special Counsel Robert Mueller told the country in a dramatic statement that it was 'not an option' for his office to have charged President Trump with an obstruction crime and that it would be 'inappropriate' for him to speak further about his probe of Russian election interference.

In a public statement he said would likely be his only one, Mueller restated parts of his 448-report – including the controversial decision not to charge Trump with a crime.

The president has repeatedly cited the report – and his own attorney general's decision not to charge him – as proof that there was 'no obstruction.'

But Mueller, in his sudden statement delivered with little public notification, said his decision rested on Justice Department policy – not on the guilt or innocence of President Trump.

That did not stop Trump from tweeting immediately after Mueller's remarks that the case against him was 'closed.'

The reports of the strained relationship come as Bolton attends an emergency summits of Arab leaders in Saudi Arabia, where the adviser - who has previously advocated for harsh treatment of Iran - reassured allies the U.S. is being 'responsible' when it comes to Tehran.

Pardoning War Criminals Is a Monstrous Way to Honor Memorial Day

How are you spending Memorial Day? Ordinary people may attend parades, host cookouts, or take the long weekend to visit loved ones.

Donald Trump, on the other hand, may pardon a few war criminals.

The president recently requested the files of several accused and convicted U.S. war criminals, a possible step toward expedited pardons for individuals who’ve done unspeakable things.

There’s SEAL chief Edward Gallagher, who senselessly shot to death a teenage girl and an elderly man in Iraq. Gallagher also brutally stabbed a wounded 15-year-old to death – and then posed for photos with the body, which he texted to friends.

Trump also requested the files of Nicholas Slatten, a Blackwater contractor convicted of shooting dozens of Iraqi civilians in the notorious 2007 Nisour Square massacre, and of Mathew Golsteyn, who confessed to murdering an unarmed Afghan captive US soldiers had released.

Guess who doesn't want war with Iran? Trump supporters

Supporters of Donald Trump who hoped that he would adopt a new, less interventionist foreign policy for the United States have ample reasons to feel disappointed. The administration’s increasingly belligerent policy toward Iran, which may lead to war, is just the most recent case in which the president has betrayed those supporters.

During his presidential campaign in 2016, Trump repeatedly condemned Washington’s regime-change wars and nation-building crusades. Much to the shock and fury of the other Republican candidates, he did not confine his criticism to policies that Barack Obama’s administration pursued; instead he excoriated George W Bush for the Iraq war and the seemingly endless military mission in Afghanistan.

A Parade of Imperial Presidencies

Watching the Trump administration stiff-arm constitutional checks and balances left and right, and stonewalling all congressional subpoena and other oversight requests connected to the Mueller probe, this might be a good time to remind Americans that the encroaching executive tyranny we feel has been building for some time, and that it is pretty much our fault.

Although historian Arthur Schlesinger, Jr. popularized the concept of the “imperial presidency” during the presidency of Richard Nixon, the power of the executive had been expanding mightily since the Cold War presidency of Harry Truman. However, in the wake of the 9/11 attacks, presidents have further augmented their extra-constitutional power to such an extent that we might now classify the presidency as having gone rogue.

Trump’s orders to AG on Russia probe worry critics

Intelligence professionals warned Friday that President Donald Trump’s decision to give his loyal attorney general carte blanche to disclose still-secret material from the Russia investigation will let William Barr cherry-pick intelligence to paint a misleading picture about what started the probe.

The president claims his campaign was spied upon, though Trump administration officials have said they have no specific evidence that anything illegal was done when the campaign came under FBI surveillance that was approved by a court.

On Thursday, Trump gave Barr full authority to publicly disclose information about the origins of the investigation the president has repeatedly dismissed as a “hoax.”

“You have to get down to what happened because what happened is a tremendous blight on our country,” Trump said, adding that Barr is highly respected and will be impartial in reviewing documents.

“Now I said it for economic reasons,” Trump said while introducing Representative Mike Pompeo, his pick to lead the agency. “But if you think about it, Mike, if we kept the oil, you probably wouldn’t have ISIS because that’s where they made their money in the first place, so we should have kept the oil. But, okay, maybe we’ll have another chance.”

US pressures to prevent China companies from operating in Israel

The US is pressuring Israel to prevent Chinese companies from entering Israeli facilities.

US National Security Adviser John Bolton addressed this issue during his visit to Israel in January, and warned against the entry of Chinese technology companies, such as Huawei and ZTE, to the Israeli market, Haaretz reported yesterday.

The US warnings come as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is seeking to boost trade ties with China, but at the same time is facing US pressure. The Marker newspaper reported this week that the Cabinet abstained from setting up a special committee to monitor China’s technology and investment, despite US pressures. The report added that Israel is now seeking an approach that appeases America.

Trump may use Iran tensions to bypass Congress, sell Saudis more bombs: Senator

A US senator has warned that President Donald Trump may use the tensions Washington has been stocking with Iran as a pretext to sell more bombs to the Saudi regime without congressional approval.

In a series of tweets on Wednesday, Chris Murphy, the Connecticut Democrat and member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said that the Trump administration may cite tensions with Iran as an “emergency” to justify supplying more arms to the Riyadh regime.

“I am hearing that Trump may use an obscure loophole in the Arms Control Act and notice a major new sale of bombs to Saudi Arabia (the ones they drop in Yemen) in a way that would prevent Congress from objecting. Could happen this week,” Murphy said.

“Arms control law allows Congress to reject a sale to a foreign country. But Trump would claim the sale constitutes an ‘emergency’ which means Congress can't take a vote of disapproval. It would go through automatically,” he added.

Trump moves to escalate investigation of intel agencies

President Donald Trump on Thursday granted Attorney General William Barr new powers to review and potentially release classified information related to the origins of the Russia investigation, a move aimed at accelerating Barr’s inquiry into whether U.S. officials improperly surveilled Trump’s 2016 campaign.

Trump directed the intelligence community to “quickly and fully cooperate” with Barr’s probe. The directive marked an escalation in Trump’s efforts to “investigate the investigators,” as he continues to try to undermine the findings of special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe amid mounting Democratic calls for impeachment proceedings.

Michael Cohen had more than 1,000 calls and texts with company linked to Russian oligarch after Election Day, unsealed warrant applications reveal

Jailed former longtime Donald Trump lawyer Michael Cohen had more than 1,000 communications with the head of a Russia linked firm after Election Day 2016 – and banked more than $400,000 in just five months from the company, unsealed warrants revealed Wednesday.

The information about Cohen was contained in five warrants that prosecutors obtained at the start of the Russia probe.

President Donald Trump on Wednesday delivered yet another of his blistering critiques on the probe, which he termed a 'hoax' that was run by 18 'angry' Democrats.

SecDef Orders New Limits on Military Reporting to Congress

Pentagon says new limits actually "increase transparency".

Acting Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan has issued a new memo imposing major new restrictions on the methods through which the Pentagon and defense officials are allowed to share information with Congressional offices or committees.

The policy imposes serious limits, telling officials to only give Congress official summaries instead of actual plans, and sets officials within the Pentagon who decide whether a Congressional request can be proven to be legitimate.

This is clearly intended to further limit information sharing at a time when many in Congress are complaining they’re already not being kept sufficiently informed. Reps. Adam Smith (D-WA) and Mac Thornberry (R-TX) warned that the new policy is overstepping the Pentagon’s authority, by “presuming to determine what warrants legislative oversight.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

"increase transparency", MY ASTROLABE!!

This is engineered to build a ruggedized, encrypted intel fortress about critical information, so that Congress cannot hear about the foulups, bleeps, and blunders perpetrated by the Pentagon, in its relentless, insane pursuit of wars of conquest.

So Acting Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan, a word, please; there has to come a time when we desperately need, at the national level, to have a Department of Peace, to give the President alternative ways to go about his international agenda, rather than blowing people, and things, up.

And sir, forgive me, but that time... is now.

House panel approves language revoking 2001 war authority as U.S. increases Iran tensions

The House Appropriations Committee on Tuesday approved an amendment to the annual defense spending bill that would end the authorization for the use of military force (AUMF), as lawmakers grow increasingly concerned over the possibility of war with Iran.

The committee voted along party lines, 30-22, for Rep. Barbara Lee's (D-Calif.) amendment to sunset the AUMF, which has been used as legal justification for military operations against terrorist groups.

Passed days after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, it has been cited as a justification for conflict 41 times in 18 countries.

“In the last 18 years, it really has become increasingly clear that the AUMF has essentially provided the president, and that’s any president, the authority to wage war anywhere in the world at any time,” said Lee, who was the only member of Congress to vote against the AUMF when it was passed.

He was sentenced to 25 years in prison, but paroled in less than five. On May 6, 2019, US president Donald Trump pardoned Behenna.

As I write this, news reports indicate that Trump intends to celebrate Memorial Day by pardoning several other Americans convicted of (or accused of and not yet tried for) war crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan. That’s a horrible idea for several reasons.

One reason is that it’s morally repugnant to excuse the commission of crimes, especially violent crimes, for no other reason than that the criminal is a government employee.

A second reason is that it is detrimental to the good order and and discipline of the US armed forces to excuse violations of law by American soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines.

Venezuela, Iran: Trump and the deep state

The US Press is spreading a false narrative of the events in Venezuela and the rise of tension between Washington and Teheran. Given the contradictory declarations of both sides, it is almost impossible to discern the truth. After having checked the facts, we need to deepen our analysis and take into account the opposition between the different political currents in these countries.

Kellyanne Conway Snaps at Pelosi After Speaker Says She Doesn’t Talk to President’s Staff

Kellyanne Conway snarked at Nancy Pelosi for being “really pro-woman” after the House Speaker said she only talks to the President, not his staff.

The two exchanged words after a tense moment in which President Trump walked into a meeting on infrastructure, blasted Democrats for conducting “phony investigations,” and promptly walked out.

Trump took issue with Pelosi’s claims that he had “engaged in a cover-up.”

After he bolted from the room, Pelosi reportedly told those in attendance that previous Presidents, unlike Trump, were willing to work with the opposition on infrastructure over the years. One source stated that Pelosi said she wasn’t surprised that Trump walked away.

Military Brass Warn Trump Against Memorial Day Pardons for War Criminals

Last week, the New York Times reported that the president was thinking seriously about pardoning military officers and one contractor who had been convicted of, or were facing charges for, committing war crimes, in time for announcement on Memorial Day. It seemed a grossly inappropriate way to celebrate a national holiday devoted to those who died for our country, not those who lived but slaughtered innocents. But then again, Trump does seem to conflate patriotism with jingoism, parades, and intimidating foreigners with threats of lethal violence.

It’s unclear what will happen on Memorial Day, but the Los Angeles Times is now reporting that a backlash has developed among current and former military leaders who consider the idea, well, kind of dishonorable:

George Conway tweets text to 25th Amendment and calls Trump ‘a loony tune’ after explosive Rose Garden pity party

George Conway has not slowed down in his criticism of President Donald Trump. The Republican attorney who happens to also be married to Counselor to the President Kellyanne Conway Wednesday afternoon responded to Trump’s explosive pity party with a tweet.

That tweet was the section of the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that explains how the Vice President can step in to have a president removed from office in case he becomes unfit to serve.
