In times of economic crisis, some leaders look for scapegoats

After spray-painting walls with anti-Semitic slogans and desecrating Torah scrolls, they made off with computer hard drives containing personal data on congregation members. Such a thing had never happened before in Venezuela.

President Hugo Chavez, a demagogue whose troubles mount as oil prices fall, blamed the break-in on political opponents. Pro-Chavez media, prone to anti-Semitic diatribes, blamed it on Israeli intelligence.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Trudy Rubin, in her rush to sell the "Poor Jews are always the victims", seems to have missed that the perpetrators pf the Synagogue attack have been arrested and they included four police officers, one of who moonlighted as a bodyguard for the Rabbi, as well as one of the security guards for the synagogue itself.

Meaning that his was yet another in a long string of "pity me" hate-crime hoaxes.

I’m sure there are some readers who feel that I accentuate the negative over the positive in my postings here. My answer would be, “Do you want me to lie to you?” I’m not trying to get you to sleep with me. A lot of you can accomplish that without my help. Sometimes I feel like I’m in one of those zombie movies that I don’t watch because I am too busy avoiding the zombies in the street. Some things are very clear to me and they are clear to others as well. This gives me a confirmation about what I am seeing. I cannot understand why so many more people cannot see what is happening. I have to assume that it is because they are seeing what they want to see because reality doesn’t jibe with their plans for the future.

Okay, so the icing story isn;t holding up. How about turbulance? Would you believe turbulance brought down 3407?

Trouble on the flight began when the plane's flaps went down at 2,300 feet, said Steven Chealander, a member of the National Transportation and Safety Board, at a news conference Saturday. The plane pitched forward and rolled in the air, but did not turn over. The turbulence unfolded so quickly that passengers on board would likely have had little time to realize the aircraft was crashing, he said; pilots didn't have time to send a mayday call.

Although witnesses reported seeing the plane nose-dive, Chealander said that investigators had found the plane's cockpit, tail, engine and wings positioned "as they should be if laying flat, not if it was nose-down."

Webmaster's Commentary:

... except that now there is an eyewitness to the actual crash who saw it go in nose first.

FLASHBACK - Exclusive Photos Of Huge New US Base In Israel

I have seen these kind of installations when I was in the military for years I was stationed at a base where a major part of it was like this. These are not barracks of any kind. The metal facilities built up on the rocks are huge electronic facilities probably filled with CIA and extensive phone and other electronic monitoring stuff. The bunker is one just like the ones I was around at the base I was at here in California. It is a missile launch bunker. Somewhere within a mile to 5 miles are silos with the missiles in them, This kind of a facility has minimal personal but filled with covered electronics that can even be monitored from the US itself. Not one of those large buildings is for people to live in or even really work in.

Dem’s Use “Stimulus” as Cover for More Gun Control

This nefarious bill seeks to strip us all of our Constitutional Rights to possess and bear firearms of any distinction. It requires, within the first two years, that all new guns be registered. The bill goes retroactive after two years. Meaning that two years after the passage of the bill, ALL FIREARMS in a citizen’s possession must be registered, not just those purchased after the bill passes, and this apparently applies to antique firearms as well.

Autism ruling fails to convince many vaccine-link believers

A special court's Thursday ruling that no proven link exists between autism and certain early childhood vaccines seems to have done little to change the sometimes-passionate opinion fueling the debate.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Courts do not have the power to rule on reality, although many have tried.

The legal process that sent Galileo to be tortured was sound in logic and law, as were the courts that condemned a million convicted witches to the flames, as are the courts that imprison those who dare ask questions about the history of WW2.

Courts are not science. Courts are raw state power, but they do not have the power to alter reality, only to coerce how the powerless are supposed to see reality. Hence while the Earth did move around the sun, the courts ordered the people to believe the Earth was the center of the universe. While the reality is that nobody rides broomsticks through the air, the courts ordered the people to believe that they did.

So now the courts will order us to believe that vaccinations have nothing to do with autism.

But we are tired of courts telling us what to believe. We did not evolve to walk on two feet only to kneel before myths and legends.

Federal obligations exceed world GDP

As the Obama administration pushes through Congress its $800 billion deficit-spending economic stimulus plan, the American public is largely unaware that the true deficit of the federal government already is measured in trillions of dollars, and in fact its $65.5 trillion in total obligations exceeds the gross domestic product of the world.

Feb 15 08:31

Webmaster's Commentary:

We know abstractly that there are Americans out there made homeless by the reckless fiscal policies of Wall Street, the Federal Reserve, and their servants in the US Government.

We know, also abstractly, that there are veterans of past wars not being taken care of by the nation for which they sacrificed.

And we know, again abstractly, that Americans are going hungry, and are dying of neglect.

But on 2-14-09 on the What Really Happened radio show the abstract became concrete when Patricia from Texas called into the show on a borrowed phone to say hello.

And the suffering of our fellow Americans has a voice. It has a name. It has an identity. And we cannot pretend that the problem is just numbers and statistics any longer.

Crash witness, plane hit nose down

Witnesses saw and heard plane going down
By Jim Kavanagh

"The plane was nose down -- not as steep as is being reported but steep enough that it didn't look right," said Tony Tatro, who lives next to the crash site in Clarence Center. "The left wing was tilted lower than the right, so it was pitched and it was headed down."
"Had it been on a flatter trajectory it would have impacted more than just the one house," he said. "The two homes on either side ... are relatively close to the home that was hit. Had the plane been any flatter it would have hit either or both of those homes."

The sacking of Carol Thatcher, and why liberals don't believe in tolerance

All these cases have one key element in common - an element they
share with totalitarianism: they have been supported by people who
think of themselves as progressives.

... totalitarianism in Eastern Europe was set up incrementally and over time - and why it is important to be aware the same thing could happen here. Starting with good ideas about ending oppression, communist regimes in Eastern Europe were not totalitarian at first. It took decades before the apparatus of state terror was set up. Although the German Democratic Republic was founded in 1949, the Berlin Wall was not built until 1962.

In Britain, a similar pattern is emerging.

Obama's Opening Salvo

In an interview following his announcement, Geithner stated that government should replace the demand lost by the private sector. However, those with even a marginal grasp of economics know that demand is unlimited. It is the ability to spend that is not. While Americans still want all the things they wanted years ago, they have made the rational choice that they can no longer afford to buy at the same levels they once did. Using a printing press to replace this lost ‘demand’ will simply cause consumer prices to rise. Printed money does not create new purchasing power, but merely redistributes it from savers to borrowers. And since the plan will severely undermine the real productive capacity of our economy, there will not be much purchasing power left to redistribute!

Has Barack Obama retreated on his promise to end the Bush administration's lawless and sometimes cruel treatment of suspected terrorists? By no means, but some of his actions -- and comments from some of his key appointees -- are sending a mixed message.

US foreclosure image is 2008 World Press Photo

Webmaster's Commentary:

Here in Hawaii we see "eviction piles" at the curbs waiting for trash pickup. The reason we know it's an eviction pile is there are items there from every room of the condo/apartment; kitchen, bedroom, living room, bathroom. Once you realize that these are not just throwaways from people who bought new furniture, you start realizing that you see these piles everywhere!

whistleblower: Bank 'had a disregard for risk'

A second HBOS whistleblower today claimed there was "a total disregard to the risk process" at the bank under the leadership of former chief executive Sir James Crosby.

Dr Bijan Khandani, a risk manager at HBOS between 2003 and 2005, told the Evening Standard his efforts to protect it against risk were thwarted by senior staff.

Missing from Congress' stimulus negotiations: transparency

President Obama has indicated he wants Congress to conduct its work in the open. But in this first test case, 'he's pleased with the process and the product,' a spokesman says.

Sorry? What this lot did is unforgivable..

I reckon many people felt curiously unsatisfied after that bunch of bailed-out bankers from RBS and HBOS hung their heads and said sorry.

The mood of the nation demanded the guillotine and what we got was an empty show trial.

The Coming Crisis: White Collar Homelessness

Last month, unemployment rates surged to 7.6 percent. As the jobless population becomes older and more educated, many are ending up with no car, no job prospects, no health insurance, and - before long - no home. Will the dramatic increase of unemployment change the face of homelessness in America?

Webmaster's Commentary:

If the US Government took the same money they are pouring onto the bankers and gave it back to the people (whose money it is anyway) each and every one of us would get about $30,000.

We could pay our mortgages. That would end the mortgage crisis.

We could pay our credit cards. That would end the credit crisis.

We could start new businesses. That would create jobs. That would end the unemployment crisis.

Those new businesses could make products for export. That would end the trade imbalance.

Why on Earth are they not doing this? Or at least slashing taxes by 50% which would produce the same result?

Instead the government has taken $8 trillion from the people to give to the banks so the banks can loan it back to us at interest!

This is like seeing a house burning and deciding that the best way to put out the fire is to rip wood from all the other houses to try to smother the flames!!!!!

Are the wealthy in this nation so greedy that they would not surrender their hold on our throats just long enough for us to stand back up again?

Suspect charged over deadly Australian bushfire

"The accused is in a fragile mental state," his lawyer said. "He should be seen to by a doctor."

Webmaster's Commentary:

There is something about this man's identity that they dare not let out and it has nothing to do with his personal safety.

Have you ever heard of another case where an arsonist was arrested and the authorities protected his identity?

The Post-Money Paradise

Consider a world in which the air is clean, the water pure, and the landscape unmolested but replete with verdurous splendour. A world, bereft of the virulence of the malevolent gods, home to an enlightened people united in compassion and existing in cooperation; a global palace of abundance, of universal satiety and unfettered happiness. Such a paradise could only be possible in the absence of money. And the abolition of money could only be made possible in the absence of the toxic few that currently reside aloft the pyramidal power structure.

Webmaster's Commentary:

We need to get rid of the few that think their imaginary gods intended them to live as gods themselves at the expense of everyone else around them.

Peter Cummings, the man who broke HBOS with a £7bn loss

Lloyds admitted that HBOS’s corporate division, which was run by Peter Cummings — the highest-paid executive at the bank — has had to write off £7 billion of bad loans, far more than HBOS’s management ever admitted. Mr Cummings is understood to have left in early January with a payoff thought to be about £660,000 and £6 million of pension entitlements.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The New Book Banning

It’s hard to believe, but true: under a law Congress passed last year aimed at regulating hazards in children’s products, the federal government has now advised that children’s books published before 1985 should not be considered safe and may in many cases be unlawful to sell or distribute. Merchants, thrift stores, and booksellers may be at risk if they sell older volumes, or even give them away, without first subjecting them to testing—at prohibitive expense. Many used-book sellers, consignment stores, Goodwill outlets, and the like have accordingly begun to refuse new donations of pre-1985 volumes, yank existing ones off their shelves, and in some cases discard them en masse.

Rabbi Shlomo Aviner: Rabbinical Law Forbids Democracy For Arabs

"A prominent Zionist rabbi ruled this week that according to the Halacha, a non-Jew cannot serve as a Knesset member in the State of Israel, even if the public agrees to it. "This is irrelevant," said Rabbi Shlomo Aviner, "This is a Jewish state and Jews are the ones leading the Jewish state."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Not that we are being racists or anything tacky like that! and only an anti-Semite would even notice!

Israel learns of a hidden shame in its early years

After the Sabbath meal the platoon commander, identified by Ha'aretz as a man called Moshe who had served in the British army during the second world war, proposed a vote on what should be done with her.

One option was to put her to work in the outpost's kitchen.

Most of the 20 or so soldiers present voted for the alternative by chanting: "We want to fuck". The commander organised a rota for groups of his men to gang rape the girl over the next three days. Moshe and one of his sergeants went first, leaving the girl unconscious. Next morning, she complicated matters by protesting about her treatment. Moshe told one of his sergeants to kill her.

Rumsfeld Knew His Guys Were Torturing People to Death, Which Is a Serious Crime

71% of Americans are in favor of an investigation into the possible misuse of the Department of Justice by the Bush administration according to a Gallup poll released yesterday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Dear President Obushma (or is that Obeyme?)

I do not know why you are shielding the war criminals which sullied that office you now sit in. You are chief executive of a very angry nation, getting angrier by the minute as we lose our jobs, our businesses, and our homes.

@#$% anger management; we are seriously pissed off and looking for a target to take it out on.

You cannot calm us down, nor can you control us. So it really comes down to a simple choice. Would you prefer the target of American's anger be yourself?

Or your predecessor?

Think about it.
