Texas couple’s electricity bill spikes to nearly $10k in just several days for a 3 bedroom home

Texas residents are scrambling to put cash on utility apps to keep their power on after utility rates spiked statewide on Monday to $9,000 per megawatt-hour due to foul weather.

Power bills for vacant homes that are currently just sitting in inventory have reached $1,200 a month. Dallas-Fort Worth resident Jose Del Rio told NBC News that electricity costs on a vacant home he is trying to sell are now through the roof.

The Dallas-Fort Worth man regularly pays about $125 a month to keep the pipes warm but has already been charged over $600 this month.

In today’s day and age, it’s not uncommon that people pay their utility bills daily or even weekly using apps like Griddy. But some, like Rio, are struggling with the astronomical costs.

Let's Review 50 Years Of Dire Climate Forecasts And What Actually Happened

Believe in man-made climate change all you want. There is some truth to it although the models have not been remotely accurate to say the least.

After 50 years of nonsense hype, it's no wonder anyone with a modicum of common sense is more than a bit skeptical of these dire predictions and the alleged urgency to do something immediately about them.

If after all these now laughable headlines, you still have faith in the predictions, why?

And if you don't believe the predictions, then do you still want to spend $90 trillion to solve the alleged problem?

Are Texans, like Elon Musk and Joe Rogan, secretly planning their return to California over power prices?

Texans may be wondering what the beach in California looks like in February after power prices surged to tens of thousands of dollars per month for some residents in the Lone Star State amid the worst storm in over a century.

Space X founder Elon Musk’s girlfriend Grimes reported from Austin that she headed south to escape the bitter winter blast which left 3.7 million customers without power earlier in the week. Now there is another crisis Texas are dealing with — water.

“Just spent however many days in Austin w no power, no heat + a baby in -0. drove south all night 2 escape incoming storm but roads r rly dangerous rn.,” the Canadian musician is also known as Claire Elise Boucher Tweeted on Wednesday. “Super worried about ppl. You would think someone in the government would say something useful like warning the public about the signs and symptoms of hypothermia. But the press is too busy covering their backsides about global warming. In today’s world, it is impossible for anyone to admit they are wrong, so as we move into the beginning of dangerous ice-age conditions, all we will hear about is how hot it has been these last few years. Meanwhile, in Texas, after days of little or no energy food, and water shortages have developed with people burning their fences and children’s toys to stay warm.

U.S. Officially Rejoins Paris Climate Agreement

America officially rejoined the Paris Climate Agreement, which means more trips for John Kerry on his private jet to Europe.

America has so much catching up to do because Lord knows she polluted Earth too much during President Donald Trump’s administration:

Starting Friday, the U.S. is back in the deal but with plenty of catching up to do to meet its emissions-cutting commitments and restore its diminished standing on the world stage.

U.S. emissions of heat-trapping greenhouse gases plunged last year, but that was an anomaly owing to the coronavirus pandemic, which put the brakes on large segments of the economy. As the country rebounds, emissions are expected to rise once again, and President Joe Biden’s administration is racing to find ways to put the U.S. on track to meet even more ambitious targets that scientists say are needed to avert the worst effects of global warming.

Bill Gates wants ‘rich nations’ to switch to 100% SYNTHETIC beef to save the planet

The world’s third-richest man is shifting from preaching about pandemics to promoting his new book about climate change, urging humanity to embrace the sci-fi idea of fake meat in order to save the earth from greenhouse gases.

Tuesday saw the publication of 'How to Avoid a Climate Disaster: The Solutions We Have and the Breakthroughs We Need,' the new book by Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates. In one of the interviews promoting the book, he argued for cutting down the levels of methane by getting rid of livestock and replacing it with the science-fiction trope of vat-grown meat.

“I do think all rich countries should move to 100 percent synthetic beef,” Gates told Technology Review in an article published Sunday. “You can get used to the taste difference, and the claim is they’re going to make it taste even better over time. Eventually, that green premium is modest enough that you can sort of change the [behavior of] people or use regulation to totally shift the demand.”

A Deep Green Freeze

Gas and power prices have spiked across the central U.S. while Texas regulators ordered rolling blackouts Monday as an Arctic blast has frozen wind turbines. Herein is the paradox of the left’s climate agenda: The less we use fossil fuels, the more we need them.

A mix of ice and snow swept across the country this weekend as temperatures plunged below zero in the upper Midwest and into the teens in Houston. Cold snaps happen—the U.S. also experienced a Polar Vortex in 2019—as do heat waves. Yet the power grid is becoming less reliable due to growing reliance on wind and solar, which can’t provide power 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

While Texas is normally awash in gas and oil, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, which oversees the state’s wholesale power market, urged residents this weekend to conserve power to avoid power outages. Regulators rationed gas for commercial and industrial uses to ensure fuel for power plants and household heating.

The project aimed to cool the earth and fight global warming by replicating the effect of a large volcanic eruption.

Swedish environmental groups have written to the government and the Swedish Space Corporation (SSC) to voice their opposition toward the SCoPEx project. These organizations included the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation, Greenpeace Sweden and Friends of the Earth Sweden. The groups noted in their letter that the inaugural SCOPEX balloon flight could be the first step toward the adoption of a potentially “dangerous, unpredictable and unmanageable” technology.

The UN Admits That The Paris Climate Deal Was A Fraud

Here's a United Nations climate report that environmentalists probably don't want anybody to read. It says that even if every country abides by the grand promises they made last year in Paris to reduce greenhouse gases, the planet would still be "doomed."

When President Obama hitched America to the Paris accords in 2016, he declared that it was "the moment that we finally decided to save our planet." And when Trump pulled out of the deal this year, he was berated by legions of environmentalists for killing it.

But it turns out that the Paris accord was little more than a sham that will do nothing to "save the planet."

Prepare For "Onslaught Of Winter Storms" In Coming Days

The Weather Channel reports "an active week" is forecasted with "multiple rounds of snow, ice in the Midwest and East as bitterly cold temperatures grip parts of the nation."

Along with multiple storms forecasted from coast to coast, there will also be a "prolonged arctic outbreak gripping parts of the Plains, Midwest and will spread into parts of the Northeast, Northwest, and South later this week.

By the end of the week, The Weather Channel forecasts "110 million of you will have lows below 20° by Friday."

For much of the country, except for South Florida and Southern California, temperatures will be well below average next week.

Achtung Baby! (It's Cold Outside) – Germany's "Green" Energy Fail Rescued By Coal And Gas

Germany’s held up as the world’s wind and solar capital. But, at the moment, the ‘green’ stuff can’t be purchased, at any price.

Its millions of solar panels are blanketed in snow and ice and breathless, freezing weather is encouraging its 30,000 wind turbines to do absolutely nothing, at all. [Note: don’t forget about the constant supply of electricity from the grid that these things chew up heating their internal workings so they don’t freeze up solid!]

So much for the ‘transition’ to an all wind and sun powered future – aka the ‘Energiewende’.

Despite being the object of consternation and much vilification over the last 20 years, Germany’s coal-fired plants are now being appreciated for what they are: truly meaningful power generation sources, available on demand, whatever the weather. With a Nationwide blackout a heartbeat away, the German obsession with unreliable wind and solar is like a time bomb set to explode.

Which Countries Will Ban Fossil Fuel Car Sales First?

As President Biden moves to suspend oil and gas leasing on federal land - and has halted further development of the Keystone Pipeline - California has announced fossil-fuel vehicle sales bans by 2035. So what about on a country-level? Who has already announced future bans?

To help us answer those questions is BofA's equity strategist Haim Israel who laid out to clients in a note titled "Climate Wars" this week which countries are set to ban gasoline cars.

Climate Change Crazy: Progressives Want People To Stop Heating Their Homes In Winter

A Massachusetts climate official has announced that people who heat their homes and fuel their cars will need to have their “will” broken in order to combat emissions and climate change.

“I know one thing that we found in our analysis is that 60% of our emissions come from … residential heating and passenger vehicles,” claimed David Ismay, Massachusetts, undersecretary for climate change, during a virtual meeting with the Vermont Climate Council. “Let me say that again: 60% of our emissions that need to be reduced come from you, the person on your street, the senior on fixed-income. Right now, there is no bad guy left, at least in Massachusetts, to point the finger at and turn the screws on and now break their will, so they stop emitting. That’s you. We have to break your will.”

COVID-19 lockdowns in 2020 caused temporary global warming, study shows

When much of the world was plunged into lockdown last year as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, there was a lot of speculation that the lack of activity would benefit the environment. However, a new study shows that these changes to our lifestyles actually slightly warmed the planet for several months in 2020 in a counterintuitive finding that underscores the role of airborne particles in influencing temperatures.

In fact, the temperatures in some places of the eastern United States as well as China and Russia rose by as much as half to two-thirds of a degree, according to the study, which was published in Geophysical Research Letters. This was because there were fewer soot and sulfate particles in the air from car exhaust and burning coal. These particles normally have a temporary cooling effect on the atmosphere as they reflect the sun’s heat.

When the emissions of aerosols dropped suddenly last spring, it meant that more of the sun’s heat was able to reach the planet,...

According to the Pope: THE EFFECTS OF GLOBAL INACTION ARE STARTLING…AROUND THE WORLD, WE ARE SEEING HEAT WAVES, DROUGHTS, FOREST FIRES, FLOODS AND OTHER EXTREME METEOROLOGICAL EVENTS, RISING SEA LEVELS, EMERGENCIES OF DISEASES AND FURTHER PROBLEMS THAT ARE ONLY PREMONITION OF THINGS FAR WORSE, UNLESS WE ACT AND ACT URGENTLY.

Maybe it’s time the Pope looked at some actual evidence…

GM spokesperson Kristin Zimmerman admits 95% of “clean” energy to charge electric cars comes from COAL

Okay, so she did try to whitewash her accidental admission by switching it to “natural gas” – which is not much different, according to the climate mafia – at the last second. Still, General Motors (GM) spokesperson Kristin Zimmerman has become something of an internet sensation for letting the cat out of the bag that “electric” cars actually run on about 95 percent coal.

Greta Thunberg admits to being a puppet, is now under investigation for collusion and conspiracy

Climate child Greta Thunberg is the subject of a new criminal investigation after she tweeted a list of her scripted marching orders, apparently accidentally, to her 4.8 million Twitter followers.

It appears as though the 18-year-old global warming activist was trying to tweet an “organic” post in support of the farmers protest in India when she mistakenly shared a document from her handlers outlining tactics for rallying left-wing Twitter users to join the movement.

“These are just some suggested posts, but feel free to tweet your own,” read the first bullet point on the document, which Greta quickly deleted once she realized, apparently, what she had done.

“It’s helpful if you add images or videos to your tweets (some images below),” the document went on to explain. “You can also tag others who can either reshare and/or the potential tags listed above to put pressure on them as well.”

Inconvenient Truths Not Approved By Al Gore

It was far hotter in the 1930s than it is today. But New York city and Los Angeles were not flooded by melting polar ice back in 1939. High-temperature records for 23 of our 50 states date back to the decade of the 1930s, during the worst-ever U.S. droughts in the period termed the “dust bowl.” Two-thirds of state high-temperature records were set prior to 1960, countering claims that the recent decade was “the warmest ever.”

According to official government data from the National Snow & Ice Data Center (NSIDC), Arctic Sea Ice is once again GROWING, with current 2020 levels exceeding 8 out of the previous 10 years.

MA Climate Official Says 60% of State Emissions Come from Average People: ‘We Have to Break Your Will’

David Ismay, the undersecretary for climate change under Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker’s (R) administration, explained during a Vermont Climate Council meeting last month the majority of the Bay State’s emissions come from average people and there is “no bad guy left … to point the finger at, to turn the screws on, and you know, to break their will.” Rather, he told his fellow climate advocates, “We have to break your will,” a remark he admitted would not bode well publicly.

“You know one thing we found through our analysis is that 60 percent of our emissions come from, as I have been starting to say, you and me — except you guys are in Vermont,” he told the climate advocates at the January 25 meeting.

“60 percent of our emissions come from residential heating and passenger vehicles,” he said, repeating the percentage and emphasizing the majority of emissions that need to be reduced come from average people.

Bill Gates predicts next two disasters facing mankind - climate change and bio-terrorism

The Microsoft co-founder famously warned the world in 2015 of the likelihood of a new pandemic caused by a respiratory virus, like the coronavirus. In a talk organised by TED media and titled 'The next outbreak? We're not ready', Mr Gates stressed that it would be the emergence of a new virus and not war that would wipe out millions of human beings. He said: "If anything kills over 10 million people in the next few decades, it’s likely to be a highly infectious virus rather than a war.

“Not missiles, but microbes."

Now, in an interview with Derek Muller, host of the YouTube channel "Veritasium", the software entrepreneur outlined what he believed to be the next deadly threats facing humankind.

"One is climate change. Every year that would be a death toll even greater than we have had in this pandemic," Mr Gates said.

He then went on to name the second, even more terrifying danger lurking out there, as bio-terrorism.

The ‘battery fairy’ and other delusions in the demand to replace gasoline powered vehicles with electric cars and trucks

I continue to be amazed that serious people think that gasoline powered vehicles can be completely replaced by electric vehicles in a decade-and-a-half, and that this would be a good thing, even if possible. Under threat of government action, however, the world’s major auto manufacturers are falling in line boosting production of plug-in models, and upstart Tesla Motors is now the world’s most valuable auto manufacture, based on the value of its capital stock issued and in the public’s hands. Mary T. Barra, CEO of General Motors, has pledged to sell only zero emission vehicles by 2035. That would meet the deadline imposed by California Governor Gavin Newsom, who signed an executive order banning the sale of internal combustion vehicles in the nation’s largest car market by 2035.

Prince Charles ‘full of admiration’ for Joe Biden over US President’s top priority

Last week, the Prince of Wales sent Mr Biden a letter to congratulate him for his inauguration and addressing the fight against climate change. The new US President re-joined the Paris Climate Agreement, the international treaty that aims to tackle environmental issues.

He did so within hours of his swearing in ceremony after former President Donald Trump withdrew from the accord claiming the agreement was not created to protect the environment but to “kill” the American economy.

A royal source told the Mirror Prince Charles was “encouraged” by Mr Biden’s decision to re-enter the agreement and is said to be “full of admiration” for the US President.

They said: “The Prince was hugely encouraged that one of the very first acts the new President undertook was to reinstate the United States to the Paris Climate Agreement.

“The two men share the same indisputable view, that the global climate crisis is the biggest threat to humankind and needs to be dealt with utter urgency.

Bill Gates Has a New $1bn Yacht That Shows He Is Morally Superior to You Because It’s Hydrogen-Powered

For an environmentally conscious billionaire, what better way to combine luxury with your green credentials?

Bill Gates has commissioned the world’s first hydrogen-powered superyacht – believed to cost $860 million, giving him bragging rights over other ultra-rich seafarers.

The Sunday Telegraph can reveal the retired 64-year-old is behind the construction of the cutting-edge cruiser by Dutch superyacht specialist Feadship.

The custom build is based on blueprints for the 372ft (113 metre) vessel Aqua publicised at the Monaco Yacht Show last year by Dutch marine architects Sinot. It said the plans took “inspiration from the lifestyle of a discerning, forward-looking owner”.

Gates, who co-founded Microsoft and is the world’s second-richest person, is a regular superyacht holidaymaker but has not owned one, preferring to rent for summer trips around the Mediterranean.

Europe's Unforeseen Renewables Problem

Earlier this month, something happened in Europe.

It didn’t get as much media attention as the EU’s massive funding plans for its energy transition, but it was arguably as important, if not more.

A fault occurred at a substation in Croatia and caused an overload in parts of the grid, which spread beyond the country’s borders. This created a domino effect that caused a blackout and prompted electricity supply reductions as far as France and Italy. The problem was dealt with, but it’s only a matter of time before more problems like this occur—the reason: the rise of renewables in the energy mix.

Bloomberg reported on the incident citing several sources from Europe’s utility sector. While no one would directly blame the blackout and the increased risk of more blackouts on renewables, it is evident that Europe’s change in the energy mix is raising this risk.

NZ Climate Change report: What's the future of gas?

Small businesses like restaurants and cafes could be impacted after the Climate Change Commission released its first report, with a raft of targets proposed to cut New Zealand's emissions.

The commission has found the government needs to do more to meet its obligations under the Paris Agreement.

And its advice means big changes for New Zealand's small businesses.

The sear of a steak is a sound that's here to stay, but how you cook that piece of porterhouse, scotch or eye fillet could be about to change.

The Climate Change Commission, in its draft plan for cutting the country's emissions, has advised that it is time to cut gas.

Its plan suggests no new natural gas connections to the network or bottled LPG after 2025.

By 2050, the commission says existing natural gas in buildings should be phased out.

Bright Green Impossibilities

After reading some information at Friends of Science, I got to thinking about how impossible it will be for us to do what so many people are demanding that we do. This is to go to zero CO2 emissions by 2050 by getting off of fossil fuels.

So let’s take a look at the size of the problem. People generally have little idea just how much energy we get from fossil fuels. Figure 1 shows the global annual total and fossil energy consumption from 1880 to 2019, and extensions of both trends to the year 2050. I note that my rough estimate of 2050 total annual energy consumption (241 petawatt-hrs/year) is quite close to the World Energy Council’s business-as-usual 2050 estimate of 244 PWhr/yr.

Delingpole: Biden’s Green New Deal Is an ‘Impossible Cluster****’

President Joe Biden’s Green New Deal is an ‘impossible clusterf***.’ You probably knew this already but below are the raw details.

If the world is to wean itself off fossil fuels and go “carbon neutral” by 2050, here is what might possibly need to be done:

To summarize: to get the world to zero emissions by 2050, our options are to build, commission, and bring on-line either:

• One 2.1 gigawatt (GW, 109 watts) nuclear power plant each and every day until 2050, OR

• 3,000 two-megawatt (MW, 106 watts) wind turbines each and every day until 2050 plus a 2.1 GW nuclear power plant every day and a half until 2050, assuming there’s not one turbine failure for any reason, OR

• 96 square miles (250 square kilometres) of solar panels each and every day until 2050 plus a 2.1 GW nuclear power plant every day and a half until 2050, assuming not one of the panels fails or is destroyed by hail or wind.

Davos: Green transition is '$50-trillion investment opportunity'

The investment opportunity presented by the transition to a green global economy has been a key topic on the agenda at the 2021 World Economic Forum.

The weeklong summit — held online this year due to the global coronavirus outbreak — devoted over a day's worth of discussions to issues surrounding climate change, including how to restructure an economy based around the consumption of carbon-producing fossil fuels.

Over several panels, both politicians and business leaders highlighted the economic potential of the green transition. The real challenge, they said, will be getting investments where they are needed most.

From shareholder to stakeholder
The transition toward an environmentally stable global economy represents a $50 trillion (€41 trillion) investment opportunity, said Bill Winters, Group CEO of the UK-based Standard Chartered Bank, speaking on a panel about how to finance the transition to a global society free of carbon emissions.

Climate Envoy John Kerry Ahead of U.N. COP26 Summit: ‘We Have Nine Years Left’

John Kerry, whom President Joe Biden appointed as the United States special presidential envoy for climate, said in an interview with the BBC on Wednesday that only nine years remain to save the planet from so-called manmade climate change.

Kerry was asked about the United Nation’s COP26 conference in Glasgow, Scotland, scheduled for November.

“Glasgow will be extremely important,” Kerry said. “In fact, I would say that in my judgment, it is the last best chance the world has to come together in order to do the things we need to do to avoid the worst consequences of the climate crisis.”

“Three years ago, we were told we have 12 years to avoid those consequences,” Kerry said. “Three of those years were lost because we had Donald Trump, who didn’t believe in any of it. And now we have nine years left to try to do what science is telling us we need to do.”

The chief executive of the world’s largest asset manager was rewarded with laudatoryheadlines this week for once again promising that his firm, BlackRock, will use its market power to aid the fight against climate change. But CEO Larry Fink’s company has a long history of helping vote down environmental initiatives — and kept doing so last year.

The company, which manages nearly $9 trillion worth of global assets, wields immense economic power by virtue of the fact that it controls so much global capital. BlackRock has built a revolving door with the U.S. government, hiring former government officials for top jobs at the company and preparing its own C-suite to take jobs in government, including at the Federal Reserve and in the new Biden administration.

Global warming: Facts vs. Media Misrepresentation

Now that the cultists are back at the White House and throughout government agencies, they have decided to make up numbers as to the “costs and benefits” of combating climate change to push their radical agenda to destroy America. These cost projections will be as accurate as all the dire predictions of the last 100 years. In other words, they will be wrong. Anyone can make up numbers to support an agenda. The media certainly won’t care because they campaigned for these cultists to push the agenda. They will never ask questions. -- Anyone who questions these numbers will be demonized as a denier, anti-science, and stupid. Such people will be silenced and canceled because debate is not allowed. Vatican Calls for ‘Unprecedented Collective Response’ to Climate Change

The Vatican has called for a “responsible, unprecedented collective response” to the “momentous challenge” of climate change.

Speaking on behalf of Pope Francis, Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin said in an online address Monday to the Climate Adaptation Summit taking place in the Netherlands that climate change “represents one of the principal challenges facing humanity in our day.”

“The scientific data at our disposal clearly show the urgent need for swift action,” Cardinal Parolin said. “The transition to a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions is a problem not only of the domain of technology, but also a question of consumption patterns, education, and lifestyles.”

The cardinal said that Pope Francis wished to assure participants in the Climate Adaptation Summit “of his closeness, support and encouragement in these days of intense effort.”
