Update (1146ET): House Speaker Kevin McCarthy on Sunday responded to a threat by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) to oust him from the Speakershp, telling CBS News' "Face The Nation" that it's "personal" for the Florida lawmaker.

"That’s nothing new, he’s tried to do that from the moment I ran for office," said McCarthy, adding "I’ll survive, you know this is personal with Matt."

"Matt voted against the most conservative bill to protect our border…secure border," McCarthy continued.

The Yuan is Coming Out

In the case of illegal immigration, western populations are being taught that the chaos and instability they are witnessing is actually an "opportunity" for them to turn the other cheek and embrace the virtue of victimhood.  Simply accept that the mass migration of incompatible cultures is going to happen, look at it as a gift which allows you to spend your hard earned labor and accomplishments giving charity to people who only showed up on the promise of free handouts, and then you won't have to be angry about it any longer.

California Governor Gavin Newsom will reportedly appoint Laphonza Butler, the president of far-left EMILY’s List, to replace Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) in the U.S. Senate after Feinstein passed away last week.

Politico broke the news on Sunday evening, which comes after Feinstein died Thursday night at 90 years old, noting that the appointment comes “without putting limitations or preconditions on his pick running for the seat in 2024.” This means that Butler can join the existing field of contenders for the party’s nominee in 2024.

The current contenders for the 2024 include Democrat Reps. Katie Porter, Adam Schiff and Barbara Lee.

On Sunday, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) told CNN's Jake Tapper that he plans to move to oust Speaker Kevin McCarthy from his post later this week.

The move is the result of months of tense back-and-forth between the two Republicans. Gaetz, a hardline conservative, originally refused to support McCarthy's bid for Speaker in January.

One of the concessions McCarthy agreed to in January lowered the threshold for filing a so-called motion to vacate — a move to evict the speaker — to one House member. 

“I do intend to file a motion to vacate against Speaker McCarthy this week,” Gaetz (R-Fla) said. “I think we need to rip off the band aid. I think we need to move on with new leadership that can be trustworthy.”

U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer (R-KY) issued three subpoenas for personal and business bank records of Joe Biden's son Hunter Biden and younger brother James.

Both Hunter and James Biden have received lavish payments and executive positions from global corporations and foreign governments, despite having no experience in the fields in which they were employed.

It is alleged that Joe Biden himself either arranged the payments, or

A SoCal doctor was charged with stealing $150 million from the Federal Covid Program. Anthony Hao Dinh, 64, of Newport Coast, is alleged to have stolen the money through filing false claims for reimbursement under the Covid Uninsured Program. His alleged fraudulent claims were from July 2020 to March 2021.

The Department of Health and Human Services allows doctors to submit claim reimbursements if the patient did not have insurance and got a Covid vaccine or was tested and treated for the virus.

An arrest on gun possession charges in Queens, New York, in November 2021 has led the Federal Bureau of Investigation to a pedophilic, Satanist extortion cult that has victimized dozens if not hundreds of minors, according to law enforcement documents, court records and sources with knowledge of the investigation.

Law enforcement discovered the organization, known as 764 and a range of aliases, while investigating alarming social media posts made by Angel Almeida, a 23-year-old resident of Astoria, Queens.

On 12 September 2023, the FBI issued a public warning about 764, noting the group is “deliberately targeting minor victims on publicly available messaging platforms to extort them into recording or livestreaming acts of self-harm and producing child sexual abuse material”. The advisory is the first formal mention of 764 by any American law enforcement agency.

The group appears to target children between the ages of eight and 17, the advisory notes, and particularly focuses on young people of color, youth identifying as LGBTQ+ or youth who struggle with mental health issues. Researchers familiar with 764 indicate the group’s members cultivate ties with minors through a wide range of platforms: either in wildly popular games like Roblox or gaming communications platforms like Discord and Twitch, as well as curated playlists on the streaming service SoundCloud. The group’s main form of communication is on Telegram, which has long been the platform of choice for many far-right extremists.

Tyree Smith, a brain-eating cannibal, was released from a Bridgeport, Connecticut psych ward 50 years earlier than his scheduled release date for ‘good behavior’ even though he previously told his psychiatrist he wanted to eat her flesh.

“Tyree Smith is an individual with a psychiatric illness requiring care, custody and treatment,” the board stated in its report this week. “Since his last hearing Tyree Smith has continued to demonstrate clinical stability. Mr. Smith is medication compliant, actively engaged in all recommended forms of treatment, and has been symptom-free for many years.”

Smith, who was 36 at the time, was sentenced to 60 years in a psych ward in September 2013 (effectively a life sentence) after a jury found him not guilty of murder by way of insanity.

Republicans put forward their last-ditch effort to avert a government shutdown on Saturday, calling a vote on a bill just minutes after sharing it with House Democrats.

The bill, described by Republicans as a “clean” 45-day continuing resolution (CR), was anything but clean.

Democrats did their best to prolong the vote to give them time to read what Republicans put in the new bill, with Democratic House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries invoking a “magic minute” (meaning he can speak as long as he wants), to delay the proceedings.

As a reminder, Speaker Kevin McCarthy previously promised to give lawmakers a 72-hour window to read bills brought to the House Floor.

Rather than making a serious attempt to write a bill that has a chance of passing in the Senate, Republicans threw their wish list items into the legislation. And conveniently, one of the things House Republicans made sure to include was a pay raise – not for hardworking Americans at risk by the GOP’s actions – but for themselves.

The chilling of speech has been doubly unconstitutional because it affects the freedom to read opposing views. The First Amendment protects not only the right to express views but also the right to hear what others have to say. Although often presented as a distinct right, the right to hear can be considered an essential element of the right to speak.

People can’t develop their views with any sophistication unless they can consider opinions that enlarge, refine, moderate or challenge their own. So, when government demands the suppression of some speech and chills even more, it reduces the diversity, value and moderation of opinion—and thereby diminishes the opportunity for every individual to develop and express his own considered views. Censorship inhibits the output of critical voices, which lessens Americans’ intellectual input, which in turn limits their intellectual output. Reading and speaking are inextricably linked in conversation.

The chilling of one insightful opinion from a scientist or physician can profoundly alter scientific and medical debate. So can the suppression of one patient’s report of an adverse vaccine event. Therefore, when vast numbers of Americans are chilled in their scientific and medical speech, it dangerously injures all of us, who suffer a diminished opportunity to learn and to reconsider and refine our own views.
