Thought for the day

"We're so self-important. So arrogant. Everybody's going to save something now. Save the trees, save the bees, save the whales, save the snails. And the supreme arrogance? Save the planet! Are these people kidding? Save the planet? We don't even know how to take care of ourselves; we haven't learned how to care for one another. We're gonna save the fuckin' planet? . . . And, by the way, there's nothing wrong with the planet in the first place. The planet is fine. The people are fucked! Compared with the people, the planet is doin' great. It's been here over four billion years . . . The planet isn't goin' anywhere, folks. We are! We're goin' away. Pack your shit, we're goin' away. And we won't leave much of a trace. Thank God for that. Nothing left. Maybe a little Styrofoam. The planet will be here, and we'll be gone. Another failed mutation; another closed-end biological mistake." -- George Carlin

According to the Norwegian authorities, power facilities have been stopped before, “but not because of falling objects,” with Ånstadblåheia Wind Park marking the first time. However, Norway has resumed the licensing of onshore wind power projects after a hiatus was prompted by a backlash against construction on untouched land.

The Norwegian Directorate of Water and Energy (NVE) has said it would close down the wind park in Ånstadblåheia in Nordland County due to several turbines falling in strong winds over the past two years.

Ånstadblåheia Wind Park started production in 2018, only four years ago. It has 14 wind turbines and produces enough electricity to supply 7,500 households.

NVE section manager Anne Johanne Kråkenes assured that the regulator takes the situation seriously.

“We have repeatedly recorded falling objects from the turbines, linked to strong winds. This should not happen,” Kråkenes told national broadcaster NRK.

Some analysts have been claiming that Beijing is “breaking” with Moscow over the issue of Ukraine. In June this year the Chinese government conducted military drills in its northeastern border with Russia, while Moscow was mostly preoccupied with its own military operations in Ukraine. This event led some Western observers to speculate, albeit there is no evidence, that this could be a sign China has unfinished business in that border area.

The 1858 Treaty of Aigun established much of the modern border between Manchuria (Northeast China) and the Russian Far East. From a Chinese Perspective, especially since the rise of Chinese nationalism in the 1920, it was an “unequal treaty”, having been signed, as it was, when the Chinese Empire was in a weakened state: it gave the neighboring Russian Empire over 600,000 square km from Manchuria.

As a legacy of the 19th and the 20th century, the Eurasian great powers often have border disagreements. Japan historically has variances with Russia over the Kuril islands, for example, as it has with its other “neighbors” China and South Korea as well. India and China notoriously have theirs too, which, by the way, has not stopped both of them from cooperating with one another, as is exemplified by the fact that they have recently withdrawn their troops from the disputed Ladakh region’s border area, thus moving one step towards the Asian century.

Indian-Chinese cooperation in fact is particularly remarkable, considering the former’s position within the QUAD, which is seen by many as a Western anti-Chinese “new NATO”. Yet even amid serious bilateral disagreements, Eurasian states have shown that there is plenty of room for cooperation on a number of levels, and, in the same way, New Delhi has also maintained close ties with Moscow, while getting closer to Washington. The same logic must apply to Sino-Russian cooperation, notwithstanding their differences over the Northeast China-Russian Far East border region.

Jan 6 Whistleblower: New Allegations Point To FBI Manipulation And Obstruction

The witch hunt for Trump continues.

However, now people speak out. The latest person to speak out is going against the FBI. This whistleblower has insider knowledge about what the FBI did to exaggerate the events that unfolded on January 6 and how they were manipulative.

According to Breitbart, “A whistleblower has accused the FBI’s Washington Field Office of using cases related to the January 6 U.S. Capitol riot to exaggerate the threat of domestic violent extremism in America, according to Judiciary Committee member Rep. Jim Jordan.”

A federal appeals court has ruled that a prison inmate has the right, based on his religion, not to be strip-searched by a female – even if that female claims to be a male.

The female, who portrays herself as a male and works at the Green Bay Correctional Center in Wisconsin, approached inmate Rufus West to submit to a routine strip-search following a visit with a guest.

West objected, based on his Islamic faith, to appearing nude before a woman.

He was forced into the strip search and then filed a complaint, earning a rebuke from the warden, who claimed the guard, Isaac Buhle, a female, "is a male and is qualified to complete these duties." Further, the prison security director threatened him with "discipline" if West complained further.

It's already well-known that Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg had an inordinate influence over the 2020 presidential election.

In fact, GOP House leader Kevin McCarthy has accused him of colluding with the FBI to change the victor from President Donald Trump to Democrat Joe Biden.

That was because Zuckerberg admitted that he ordered accurate but very damaging information about the Biden family's international business operations suppressed in the days before the 2020 vote.

"The FBI colluded with Big Tech to silence news stories weeks before the 2020 election in an attempt to control your access to information," McCarthy charged. "Democrats in Congress have been intentionally ignoring the facts. When Republicans are back in charge, we will hold all of them accountable."

The Senate on Wednesday ratified an international treaty that mandates nations to phase out hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) to protect the earth’s ozone layer, which will impose new standards that will raise the costs of air conditioning and refrigeration.

A group of 50 Senate Democrats and 19 Republicans voted to pass the Kigali Amendment to the 1987 United Nations (UN) Montreal Protocol. The amendment, which 27 Republicans voted to oppose, will limit the production and use of HFCs, man-made chemicals that are primarily used for cooling and refrigeration, by 85% over 15 years, which could substantially increase consumer and business costs in related industries.

“The last thing the American people need right now is another household necessity rising in price, but the Senate’s ratification of the Kigali Amendment does just that,” Ben Lieberman, a senior fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

North Korea has said it has no plans to sell arms to Russia, calling the idea a “conspiracy theory” after US officials claimed that a deal is in the works involving “millions” of artillery shells and rockets.

Pyongyang’s Ministry of Defense released a statement on Wednesday responding to the claims, saying that while it does not accept United Nations penalties prohibiting all arms sales by North Korea, it also has no intention of transferring weapons to Russia.

“We have never exported weapons or ammunition to Russia in the past, and we have no plans to do so in the future,” an unnamed military official said, as cited in state media, adding, “We strongly condemn and sternly warn the United States to stop recklessly spreading anti-DPRK conspiracy theories in order to pursue vicious political and military atrocities.”

First noted in a New York Times report citing “declassified” US intelligence materials, the purported arms deal was later given official credence by State Department deputy spokesperson Vedant Patel, who told reporters that Russia “is in the process of purchasing millions of rockets and artillery shells from North Korea for use in Ukraine” earlier this month.

However, the White House walked back the charge soon afterwards, with National Security Council spokesman John Kirby stating that there are “no indications that that purchase has been completed and certainly no indications that those weapons are being used inside of Ukraine.”

Moscow’s envoy to the UN, Vassily Nebenzia, had previously dismissed the claim as “another fake being circulated around.”

Western countries have failed to explain why they have different points of view on Ukraine and Serbia’s territorial integrity, given that they support Kiev in its fight against Russia, but endorsed Kosovo’s independence, President Aleksandar Vucic said on Tuesday.

In an address to the UN General Assembly in New York, the Serbian leader stated that his state respects the territorial integrity of all countries, including Ukraine, and that many describe the hostilities between Moscow and Kiev as “the first conflict on European soil since WWII.”

He said, however, that the truth about the violation of Serbia’s territorial integrity “is constantly unspoken.”

“We ask for a clear answer to the question I’ve been asking… for years – what is the difference between the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia, which was grossly violated,” Vucic said, referring to the 1999 NATO bombing of Yugoslavia.

According to Vucic, Serbia “has never [set] foot” on anybody’s territory, but this “did not prevent the 19 richest NATO countries from attacking a sovereign country without a decision by the UN Security Council.”

He also said that while NATO pledged to respect the full territorial integrity of Serbia, it did not stop many Western countries from unilaterally recognizing the breakaway province of Kosovo in 2008.

Speaking from the U.S. House floor on Tuesday, Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA) suggested moving 128 U.S. military bases out of GOP pro-life states while addressing new legislation that would require the Department of Defense to pay for travel expenses to get an abortion.

“There’s a part of me that says we have 128 bases and installations in these red states, in these states that ban abortion. Maybe we should just move these bases,” Speier said. “Now, that’s highly unlikely because we’ve invested so much, but it just begs the question about what are we really all about if we’re going to treat these servicewomen so poorly.”

Dmitry Medvedev, the former Russian president, has said that any weapons in Moscow’s arsenal, including strategic nuclear weapons, could be used to defend territories incorporated into Russia from Ukraine.

Medvedev, the deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, also said on Thursday that referendums being organised by Russian-installed and separatist authorities in large swathes of occupied Ukrainian territory will take place, and that “there is no going back”:

The rift between Brussels and Budapest is getting wider by the day as Viktor Orban’s Hungary is running out of patience for the European Union’s suicidal policies. After years of wrangling and threats from Brussels that it will trigger the much-touted “rule of law” mechanism against the Central European country, it seems the EU is moving towards action, as it cannot allow Hungary to become a precedent that would serve as a “non-compliance” inspiration for other members to follow.

Budapest’s refusal to completely cut ties with Russia seems to be escalating the standoff. As a result, the EU has threatened to freeze approximately €7.5 billion in funds earmarked for Hungary. The unelected bureaucrats from Brussels are using “persisting corruption and fraud” as a pretext for the controversial move.

Hungary under Viktor Orban is often seen as a “rogue state” and the main obstacle to the EU’s futile attempts of isolating Russia. Budapest has been persistent in its demands for exemptions from anti-Russian energy sanctions. As a result, it accomplished retaining relatively cheap energy prices at a time when the rest of the EU is going through economic and financial unraveling thanks to Brussels’ suicidal sanctions war. With what’s sure to be a harsh winter coming in mere months, there is growing conviction among many EU members that the sanctions on Russia have not only failed to produce desired results, but have actually backfired miserably and are ravaging their economies.

Israel’s repeated attacks on Syria have apparently begun to affect the situation along the main frontline in the Golan Heights.

An Israeli attack that targeted the capital of the war-torn country, Damascus, on September 17 resulted in some tensions along the frontline.

Four F-16 fighter jets of the Israeli Air Force carried out the attack from the direction of the Golan Heights. The fighter jets launched four cruise missiles and ten guided glide bombs at the southern outskirts of Damascus. Two missiles and six bombs were successfully intercepted by Syrian Pantsir-S1 and Buk-M2E air defense systems. However, impacts were reported.

Two structures in Damascus International Airport and an air-defense base in the nearby district of al-Kiswah were hit.

The main target of the attack was reportedly the “Lebanon Corps Support Office” of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The office allegedly supports pro-Iranian forces in Syria, and more importantly Hezbollah in neighboring Lebanon.

Five Syrian service members were killed as a result of the attack. All of them were reportedly air defense operators.

The German authorities froze Russian assets to the tune of over 4.8 billion euros as of September 16 as part of the sanctions, the Spiegel publication reported on Wednesday citing the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.

Of this amount, sums of money account for more than 2.2 billion euros and movable property accounts for more than 1 billion euros. The rest is real estate and "other assets".

In July, the frozen assets amounted to 4.5 billion euros. According to the publication, the German government, within the Ministry of Economic Affairs, set up a special working group to combat the circumvention of sanctions. The ministry explains that commercial banks, insurance companies and other economic entities are responsible for blocking assets as part of the relevant decision of the European Union. The ministry notes that, despite the difficulties in enforcing the sanctions regime, these measures "significantly harm the Russian economy."

On September 19, Ukrainian militants committed another war crime against civilians in the Donetsk People’s Republic which remained unnoticed by the global media.

In the morning a precise strike hit the bus stop and a grocery store on the Baku Commissars Square in the Kuibyshev district of the city of Donetsk. As a result of the inhumane attack of the Ukrainian military at least 13 civilians were killed, including two children, many more civilians were wounded.

According to the Representative office of the DPR in the JCCC, Ukrainian forces fired 155-mm shells from their positions in the village of Netailovo located 15 kilometers from Donetsk. The attack was carried out with NATO military equipment.

Eyewitnesses say that some of the victims were alive for a moment after the attack. “They crawled until they bled out.”

A Yale School of Management and Yale Chief Executive Leadership Institute study titled Business Retreats and Sanctions Are Crippling the Russian Economy was issued in August, and it argues on a fraudulent basis that because (so they allege) “Russia needs world markets as an outlet for its commodity exports far more than the world needs Russian commodity supplies,” Russia will be crushed by Western sanctions that penalize countries that import those commodities from Russia.

What is fraudulent about the report is, first of all, that The West’s war against Russia isn’t a war by ALL nations against Russia, but is ONLY a war by countries that are allied with the U.S. against Russia. If it WERE a war by ALL nations against Russia, then the allegation that “Russia needs world markets as an outlet for its commodity exports far more than the world needs Russian commodity supplies” would be relevant to the outcome of this war, but it’s not. It simply isn’t relevant.

A second fraudulent argument in this Yale study is that Russia is checkmated by the U.S.-allied countries closing down the gas and oil pipelines that have been supplying those commodities to Russia’s biggest market for those commodities, which is the U.S.-allied European countries, and that the reason why Russia is checkmated on this matter is that Russia supposedly won’t be able fast enough to build new pipelines to sell those fuels elsewhere (since these EU nations had been Russia’s main customers for those fuels, and now won’t be buying it). The Yale study supposes that Europe can simply replace Russia’s pipelined gas by liquefied, containerized, shipped, and then re-gassified liquefied natural gas (LNG) from America and other suppliers, but ignores the crucial fact that pipelined gas is far cheaper, which is the reason why Europe was buying so much of it. It’s the main reason why fuel-prices are now soaring in Europe.

Russian servicemen have recently shared several videos from the front lines in different Ukrainian regions, showing how the treat the captured Ukrainian soldiers.

Wounded Ukrainians are often left by their comrades on the battlefields. In turn, Russian servicemen treat prisoners of war in accordance with international military law. All necessary medical care is provided to the wounded. The Russians provide first aid and then transport the wounded from the battlefields to hospitals, where they are treated by Russian doctors. Some seriously wounded Ukrainian soldiers are even transferred to hospitals in Moscow or other major Russian cities, if necessary.

The Ukrainian POWs on the front lines get water and cigarettes.

The videos below were shared by the Russian military from different Ukrainian regions at different time, which confirms that the Ukrainians who lay their weapons are always treated well.
