Ukrainian servicemen have told Russian security forces that snipers from the United States and the United Kingdom have been sent to Potemkin Island (Ostriv Velykyi Potomkin) near Kherson to kill civilians in order to pass them off as victims of the Russian Armed Forces, a Russian law enforcement source told Sputnik.
"According to information received from sources in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, an American-British group of mercenaries, mostly snipers, drove to Bolshoy Potemkin Island in the Kherson region in order to terrorize the Russian-speaking population," the source said.
"The victims of the mercenaries’ murders are supposed to be passed off as those killed by the Russian army."
In early January, a video started circulating on Ukrainian websites showing how Ukrainian militants allegedly raised the Ukrainian flag on Potemkin Island, controlled by Russian troops. Subsequently, the footage was reported to have been filmed in a "gray zone."
A Sputnik correspondent visited the island on December 5 and confirmed that it was under the control of Russian troops. One of the Russian soldiers on the island told Sputnik in an interview that the Ukrainian video showing the alleged raising of the Ukrainian flag was a fake.
Two years after Azerbaijan and Armenia ended a war that killed about 6,800 soldiers and displaced around 90,000 civilians, tensions between the countries are again high in a dispute over a six-kilometer (nearly four-mile) road known as the Lachin Corridor.
The winding road, which is the only land connection between Armenia and the ethnic Armenian Nagorno-Karabakh region in Azerbaijan, has been blocked by protesters claiming to be environmental activists since mid-December, threatening food supplies to Nagorno-Karabakh’s 120,000 people.
The dispute raises fears that new fighting could break out. It also could destabilize Armenia’s chronically excitable politics. As well, it casts doubts on the competence and intentions of Russia, whose peacekeeping troops are charged with keeping the road secure.
A Kurdish delegation representing the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) concluded a visit to Damascus on Friday after meeting with several representatives of the Syrian government over the prior few days, Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar reported.
The delegation was headed by the foreign relations chief of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), Badran Jia Kurd, and arrived in the capital on January 17. According to the report, the last few meetings did not result in anything significant, but the "prevailing impression" is that both sides are willing to continue along the path of dialogue, despite US warnings.
In the Middle Ages, the Catholic Church convinced the commoners to buy indulgences to alleviate their sins. And they made a fortune in the process.
Similarly, today, our overlords—the mainstream media, central bankers, and their political allies—are working overtime to convince the commoners to pay for their alleged climate sins.
Enter carbon credits, government-issued permits that grant you the privilege to emit a certain amount of carbon dioxide.
Although advocates promote them as a way to “save the environment,” in reality, carbon credits are nothing more than a devious mechanism to tax, regulate, and control you.
It’s not a coincidence that the most philosophically and ethically bent people are promoting them.
For example, at a recent World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting in Davos, participants revealed and touted an “individual carbon footprint tracker.” It will track where people travel, how they travel, what they eat, and what they consume.
The exodus from Seattle looks like it's officially on.
No sooner did we prep a report indicating that Amazon is going to be letting an office lease in Seattle expire for only the second time ever, we also come across news that the Nike Store - which has been open for 26 years on Sixth Avenue and Pike Street in Seattle - has shut down.
The Nike store has "shut its doors for good", according to the Daily Mail, right after its neighbor down the street, Regal Cinemas, also announced they would be rejecting the lease to the Meridian 16 multiplex one block away.
“I’m heartbroken,” one resident told the Seattle Times. “Pretty bummed,” added another customer, who said he shopped at the store on a weekly basis and that it would take him "over an hour" to get to Nike's new location.
Business writer Paul Roberts for the Seattle Times noted about the closure: "Its exit sounds an ominous note for a downtown that hasn’t been able to catch its stride since the pandemic."
Meanwhile, Clarkson has written a blistering attack on the woke takeover of Britain in yesterday’s Sunday Times.
Here’s how it begins:
My son came over for a father-and-son pre-football supper the other day, and as he fussed over the Aga, making a particularly fine stir fry, we laughed about what innocuous word had been banned that day and who’d been cancelled. And then, after a pause, he said with a solemn face, “You do know there’s a war going on, don’t you?”
He wasn’t talking about Ukraine. He was talking about a full-on left-wing campaign to unstitch and burn the fabric of Britain. And the genius is that no one really knows that what they’re doing is serious. We laugh as they change the name of the Sir Francis Drake Primary School to something less slavey. We think it’s all a big joke. But it isn’t.
Think about what typically happens in a military operation and then look what the woke left has done here. It’s seized control of our television and radio stations to such an extent that last week Sophie Raworth said, on the BBC News at Six, with a straight face, “And over now to our LGBT and diversity correspondent …”
And TV drama? Unaffected? Right, and when was the last time you saw a fictional police force hunting a gang of Muslim extremists? It’s always the far right. And it’s the same story in comedy. Say anything you like about Boris or Rishi and the laughter track is turned up to 11. Make a joke about she/him pronouns or Greta Thunberg and they’ll blow a piece of tumbleweed across the stage.
One would reasonably expect a worldwide pandemic that began three years ago to have been recorded with some ballpark accuracy in case counts, and morbidity and mortality data throughout the world by now, as each hemisphere has been through three winters. One would also expect that a worldwide vaccine campaign that peaked over a year ago to have resulted in reliable vaccine uptake maps. One would expect a general consensus regarding such data. So let’s accept the above maps as not (or not yet) disputed, and as reliable documentation of historical events of pinnacle importance, events that behoove humanity to understand well, and to understand as thoroughly as if our future well-being depends on it.
One who has faith in the practice of vaccination would have also expected that vaccines carrying the name of the pandemic to have mitigated case counts of the same disease. How then is the overall experience of the African continent to be understood?
Africa was not the only part of the world where reported COVID cases have been low. Prior to vaccination, numerous countries were barely impacted at all by COVID. Let’s zoom out from Africa now to examine events in other countries.
Former US Dept of Justice adviser Gavin de Becker wrote an article on Children’s Health Defense that also appears in a book by Edward Dowd, Cause Unknown; in it he looks at COVID mortality in various nations, primarily in Asia, but also in Africa, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East, after COVID began, as well as before and after the launch of their vaccination campaigns. Three of de Becker’s timelines are as follows. De Becker indicates with a syringe pointer the date at which each of the following countries began their COVID vaccine campaigns.
A Turkish military base near the Bab al-Salama crossing north of Azaz, in the northern Aleppo countryside, was bombarded by missiles reportedly launched by the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on 20 January, according to an Al-Mayadeen correspondent.
“The Turkish base near the Bab al-Salama crossing, north of the city of Azaz, was bombed with Grad missiles coming from the SDF areas,” the correspondent said.
He went on to say that a police station occupied by members of the Turkish-backed militant coalition, the Syrian National Army (SNA), was also bombarded, resulting in several injured people.
SDF also targeted the city of Marea south of Azaz with several Grad missiles.
Additionally, three fighters from the Northern Storm Brigade, a Turkish-backed extremist group within the SNA, were killed in internal clashes among the militant coalition, Al-Mayadeen’s correspondent said. According to the Syrian media outlet North Press Agency (NPA), quoting an exclusive source, a leader in the Northern Storm Brigade was killed in these clashes.
The Biden Regime’s open borders agenda continues to have dire consequences for law-abiding Americans. Aberdeen, Maryland police on Thursday arrested a 17-year-old illegal alien with Malva Salvatrucha 13 (MS-13) ties for allegedly raping and murdering an autistic woman back in July.
Arguably the most noxious form of racism in America comes from white liberals when blacks stray from the Democratic Party. On Saturday morning, it was Fox News analyst Gianno Caldwell’s turn to experience this treatment from a liberal Karen who did not like a conversation Caldwell and his friends were having in her North Miami restaurant.
Hans Joachim Schellnhuber, a leading German scientist from the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), believes that in order to save the planet from “climate change,” every person’s carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions must be capped and regulated by the government.
Microsoft announced in a securities filing on Wednesday that it plans to lay off 10,000 employees as part of a massive cost-cutting initiative, making it the latest big company to reduce its workforce due to Biden’s failed policies resulting in economic disaster.
