"This obsession with the slavery of the Antebellum South, again, it is something that happened in the past. No White person alive today in the United States of America has ever owned a slave. No Black person alive today in the United States of America has ever had to pick cotton.

But the reality is, we are all (White or Black, Brown, Red, Peach Taupe Mauve, Plaid) slaves anyway to the "Infernal" Revenue Service, to the Federal Reserve, to the IMF, to the military industrial complex, to the Medical Industrial complex.  We do not have the freedom to be independent.

We are forced to buy and to use certain products, to surrender our money for things we don't really want, and that really is an ideal definition of slavery: that your work product is taken away from you and you get nothing in return that you want.

But this obsession with the slavery of the Antebellum South is being fanned up to divide the American people against each other so that we don't unite together against the slavery that is happening in front of us now today.

You think about that for a while." -- Michael Rivero

A recent small claims court decision found Air Canada liable for incorrect advice given by its website chatbot that led to a grieving customer paying more for plane tickets. Incredibly, the airline argued that its AI chatbot is “a separate legal entity responsible for its own actions.”

CBC reports that Jake Moffatt was looking to book last-minute plane tickets from British Columbia to Toronto after the death of his grandmother. While on Air Canada’s website, he used the customer service chatbot to ask about getting bereavement fares and the AI chatbot advised that if Moffatt booked full-price tickets immediately, he could submit a refund application within 90 days to get the cheaper bereavement rate.

Trusting this advice, Moffatt booked tickets for a total of $1,630. However, after completing the trip, Air Canada informed him that bereavement discounts don’t apply retroactively to already-purchased tickets. When Moffatt complained and showed a screenshot of the chatbot’s guidance, an Air Canada rep admitted the chatbot had provided “misleading words” but said the company had updated the system.

Unhappy with this resolution, Moffatt took Air Canada to small claims court. In a legal filing, Air Canada argued argued that its chatbot is “a separate legal entity responsible for its own actions.” But adjudicator Christopher Rivers called this “a remarkable submission,” stating that Air Canada owns its website and chatbot.

The organization Gays & Lesbians Living in a Transgender Society (GLITS) on Tuesday announced that it would hold a press conference Wednesday “to request an explanation from St. Patrick’s Cathedral” for what they described as “cutting short the funeral mass service of Cecilia Gentili.”

In a press release sent via email, GLITS stated that its press conference would be held at noon on Wednesday, February 21, at City Hall Park. The organization said it will demand “a public apology” for the “painfully dismissive and exclusionary language” the Cathedral used in a statement after the scandalous incident.

As CatholicVote previously reported:

On Thursday, February 15, a crowd of LGBTQ activists held a funeral for Cecilia Gentili at the historic St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City, New York. Gentili was “a transgender activist and actress, former sex worker and self-professed atheist,” according to the New York Times. Gentili passed away on February 6 at age 52.

The mob … eulogized [Gentili] as: “This whore. This great whore. St. Cecilia, Mother of all Whores!”

During the service, participants, many of them wearing extravagant drag, repeatedly interrupted the priest and broke into loud chants. One reveler took to the podium to pray for “access” to “gender-affirming healthcare” – a cause the Catholic Church opposes.

A big data study of 99 million people across eight countries showed greater than expected incidence of side effects from various Covid-19 vaccines, the Global Vaccine Data Network (GVDN) said on Monday.

The study, originally published in the medical journal Vaccine on February 12, looked at 13 neurological, blood, and heart-related conditions, called “adverse events of special interest.” Researchers looked at 99,068,901 vaccinated individuals from ten sites in eight countries.

“The size of the population in this study increased the possibility of identifying rare potential vaccine safety signals,” said Kristyna Faksova, the lead author of the study from the Statens Serum Institut in Copenhagen, Denmark.

According to the GVDN, the study observed a greater incidence of myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle) and pericarditis (inflammation of the heart sac) than expected among those who took the Pfizer/BioNTech (BNT162b2) and Moderna (mRNA-1273) shots.

Tyrannical leftist New York Attorney General Letitia James has revealed she is prepared to seize (steal) President Trump’s assets if he cannot pay the outrageous court fine as ordered by compromised Judge Arthur Engoron.

“If he does not have funds to pay off the judgment, then we will seek judgment enforcement mechanisms in court, and we will ask the judge to seize his assets,” James told ABC News.

As the Gateway Pundit reported, Engoron fined Trump $355 million and banned him from doing business in New York City for the next three years. Engoron claimed Trump “participated in aiding and abetting the conspiracy to commit insurance fraud by their individual acts in falsifying business records and valuations, causing materially fraudulent SFCs to be intentionally submitted to insurance companies.”

This is nothing but garbage, however. As Jim Hoft notes, the banks did their due diligence before they loaned Trump the money and testified they would gladly do it again.

Trump is vowing to appeal the charges and has accused Engoron of conspiring with James.

Nancy Pelosi has once again floated the tired conspiracy theory that Donald Trump is controlled by Vladimir Putin, and that the Russian leader is blackmailing Trump with “something financial.”

Appearing on MSNBC with Democrat mouthpiece Jen Psaki, the pair claimed Trump is a “fanboy” of Putin and that he “encourages” Putin to invade NATO countries.

“Putin is among the top three or four evil people in the world,” Pelosi ranted, before stating “What does he have on Donald Trump that he has to be constantly catering to Putin?”

She went on to claim that Trump, whose name she struggled to remember, has “brought disgrace,” to the White House and “didn’t consider it an honour” to serve as President or take seriously the oath to defend the Constitution.

“He is a person without values,” Pelosi further whined, adding “he looks like he’s going to be a person without dollars either,” gloating about the clearly political indictments against Trump.

“I don’t know what [Putin] has on him, but it’s probably financial, or something on the come, something he expects to get,” Pelosi hissed.

Claire's Observations:  Nancy, it's over; what you are doing is lying with no foundation, typical for you, but the alleged "Trump?Russia Collusion" has already been well and truly debunked by  a huge investigation, costing taxpayers millions, but ultimately proving the polar opposite to your claims. PLEASE COME BACK TO THE PEOPLE WHEN YOU HAVE SOMETHING APPROXIMATING REALITY TO SHARE  OK?!?!?

A record 7.3 million illegal aliens have crossed the southwest border under President Biden's watch, a number which according to Fox News.is greater than the population of 36 individual states.

That figure is sourced from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, which has already reported 961,537 Southwest land border encounters in the current fiscal year, which runs from October through September, and if the current pace of illegal immigration does not slow down, fiscal year 2024 will break last year's record of 2,475,669 southwest border encounters — a number that by itself exceeds the population of New Mexico.

The total number of southwest land border encounters since Biden assumed office in 2021 is 7,298,486, CBP data shows

Claire's Observations:  7 million illegal aliens have crossed the US border, under Biden's Administration?!?  He should be indicted for treason, period, end of discussion.

Biden Says He’ll Impose ‘Major’ Sanctions on Russia Over Navalny’s Death

President Biden on Tuesday said his administration would be announcing “major sanctions” on Russia over the death of Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny.

“What I came to tell you was we’d be announcing sanctions on Russia. We’ll have a major package announced on Friday,” Biden told reporters before boarding Marine One for a trip to the West Coast.

White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby also said the US would be announcing a “major” sanctions package on Friday. Kirby said the sanctions aim to “hold Russia accountable for what happened to Mr. Navalny, and quite frankly, for all its actions over the course of this vicious and brutal war that has now raged on for two years.”

Kirby would not offer any details on the sanctions when asked, and it’s unclear what steps the US could take since it’s already imposed so many sanctions on Russia.

The combination of challenges facing agencies attempting to distribute aid in the Strip has forced the UN World Food Program to halt deliveries to the northern half of Gaza. Assistance to the north has been cut off for nearly three weeks. An Israeli airstrike on an aid convoy caused the initial pause in shipments. People in that region are eating plants, weeds, grass, and animal feed in an attempt to survive.

The children in Gaza face a dire situation that can become lethal. 90% of children under five face food poverty, and 70% have recently had diarrhea. The combination of starvation and diarrhea can be fatal for children

Douglas Murray, the director of the British Free Speech Union, announced a new initiative on Monday aimed at doxing critics of Israel for "hate speech" and keeping them from getting jobs.

"Douglas Murray is Director of the British Free Speech Union. He is now going to lead an initiative to have harsher penalties for those accused of hate speech, and bar 'bigots' from employment opportunities based on social media posts!" Keith Woods commented on X.

"These speech laws have been used to target nationalists more than anyone -- Murray's countryman Sam Melia is going to jail for sharing stickers about mass-immigration and this is what he is working on, what a disgrace!"

Claire's Observations:  The "British Free Speech Union"?!?  You have GOT to love the irony here, because, in the immortal words of the character Tony Soprano, "Fuggedaboutit!!!

Israel Is Assaulting Hospitals in Gaza with Full US. Support

Hospitals should be places of healing, not theaters of war

by Kathy Kelly Posted on February 21, 2024

Many decades ago in Chicago, my favorite of several part-time student jobs was operating the “old-style” telephone switchboard at a small hospital called Forkosh Memorial. The console of coils and plugs included a mirror so operators could keep an eye on the hospital entrance, which on weekends and evenings was also monitored by an elderly, unarmed security guard named Frank. He sat at a classroom style desk near the entrance with a ledger book. Over the course of four years, on weekends and evenings, “security” at the hospital generally consisted solely of Frank and me. Fortunately, nothing much ever happened. The possibility of an attack, invasion or raid never occurred to us. The notion of an aerial bombardment was unimaginable, like something out of “War of the Worlds” or some other sci-fi fantasy.

Now, tragically, hospitals in Gaza and the West Bank have been attacked, invaded, bombed and destroyed. News of additional Israeli attacks is being reported on a daily basis. Last week, Democracy Now! interviewed Dr. Yasser Khan, a Canadian ophthalmologist and eye surgeon who recently returned from a humanitarian surgical mission at the European Hospital in Khan Yunis in Gaza. Dr. Khan spoke of bombings taking place every few hours resulting in a constant influx of mass casualties. The majority of patients he treated were children from age 2 to 17. He saw horrific eye injuries, shattered faces, shrapnel wounds, abdominal injuries, limbs severed above the bone, and traumas caused by drone launched laser guided missiles. Amid the overcrowding and chaos, health care workers tended to patients while lacking basic equipment, including anesthesia. Patients lay on the ground in unsterile conditions, vulnerable to infection and disease. Most of them also suffered from severe hunger.

Normally, a child who undergoes an amputation faces as many as twelve additional surgeries.  Khan wondered who would do the follow-up care for these children, some of whom have no surviving relatives?

Inflation for January rose higher than expected.

Is this a one-off blip?

Or is it a sign that the remaining inflation in the system is "sticky", and going to prove harder for the Federal Reserve to get under control?

Some analysis have been warning that we may be falling into the same trap as we did in the 1970s, which saw a series of rollercoaster surges and drops in inflation until Fed Chair Paul Volker was forced to rise interest rates up to a crippling 20% to get prices under control.

Is that kind of pain possibly in our future?

To find out, we're fortunate to hear today from Michael Lebowitz, portfolio manager at Real Investment Advice. He works closely with Lance Roberts, who regular viewers see on this channel with me every Saturday.

And as inflation expectations go, so go interest rates. Michael also shares where he thinks those and bond prices are headed from here

Israel has responded to Prince William's statement over the Gaza conflict, saying the country also wants to see an end to the fighting.

The Prince of Wales, 41, ramped up his family's response to the Israel-Hamas war after he and wife Kate had earlier put out a joint statement of 'distress'.

The heir to the throne expressed how his family was 'deeply concerned' about its 'human cost' in an impassioned statement just hours after Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer called for an 'immediate humanitarian ceasefire'.

It comes as royal experts say that his well-choreographed call for an end to the Gaza conflict showed he plans to be a hands-on King - while MPs have questioned whether King Charles knew about his son's statement before it was released.

The comment comes just the day before MPs will debate and vote on an SNP measure calling for an unqualified 'immediate ceasefire' to end the bloodshed, even if Israeli hostages are not returned.

Claire's Observations:  Prince Williams has the intelligence to know precisely what is going on here, and that Israel's conflating "self defense" with "genocide" is a morally despicable move, on the part of the Israeli government.   Israel has given Hamas until the start of Ramadan (the evening of Sunday,  10 March) to return all the hostages,  or Rafah gets invaded, and "ethnically cleansed."

Benny Ganz  made Israel's position quite clear, as reported at the independent.co.uk last Sunday:

"Israel will launch a ground offensive in the southern city of Rafah if hostages are not released by the upcoming Muslim holy month of Ramadan, war cabinet member Benny Gantz warned on Sunday.

The statement comes as prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu brushed off growing international calls to halt Israel’s military offensive in Gaza.

"If by Ramadan our hostages are not home, the fighting will continue to the Rafah area," Mr Gantz, a former prime minister and part of Mr Netanyahu’s three-member war cabinet, told a conference of Jewish American leaders.

10 March... is just 18 days away from today.  Many of the hostages are most probably  already dead, as the medical infrastructure in Gaza has been as totally destroyed as has been humanly possible, courtesy of the IDF.

Israel has pretty much stopped listening to anything anyone in the US/UK government has to say about a cease-fire. Most British MPS and US Congressional representatives have been compromised/co-opted by the Israeli government.

And in spite of how horrific the optics here are, the Bidenistas are still providing the bombs and bullets through which Israel is committing this genocide.

But what if Israel  ultimately, is, unable to win their fight against Hamas and  Hezbollah militarily, even with massive US aid?!?  What then?!?  What happens if Israel's neighbors unite, and are supported by Russia and/or China's military?!?

Yes, Israel has nuclear weapons; but using them close to Israeli territory, means that their own people will get badly hit with fallout, and you will have massive disease and death in Israel.

Were I a US/Israeli tactician, these questions are what would be keeping me up at night.

Fani In The Hot Seat: Former Harvard Professor Warns DA Willis May Have Committed Perjury

Retired Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz said that Fulton County’s district attorney may have lied under oath last week during hours of testimony in court to determine whether she would be disqualified from prosecuting a case in Georgia against former President Donald Trump.

The district attorney, Fani Willis, is prosecuting a case against President Trump and more than a dozen co-defendants, alleging that they were involved in a criminal conspiracy to change the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.

Ms. Willis was grilled by defense lawyers on Feb. 15 regarding her relationship with special counsel Nathan Wade, including about when their relationship started and whether she paid Mr. Wade back for multiple vacations.

A co-defendant in the Trump case filed a motion last month that accused her of concealing the relationship and of profiting from taxpayer funds after her office paid Mr. Wade.

Defense lawyers contended that the relationship started before Ms. Willis hired Mr. Wade and that she improperly benefited from his earnings, creating a conflict of interest that should disqualify the district attorney from the case. Robin Yeartie, Ms. Willis’s former friend and co-worker, testified on Feb. 15 that she saw the two hugging and kissing before Mr. Wade was hired in November 2021.

Attorneys for the state called two key witnesses of their own on Feb. 16: Ms. Willis’s father, who said he didn’t know about his daughter’s relationship until recently, and former Gov. Roy Barnes, who testified that Ms. Willis asked him to serve as special prosecutor, testimony the attorneys used to back her claim that Mr. Wade wasn’t her first choice for the job.
