The last time we checked on the strain of avian flu (i.e., “bird flu) sweeping across the globe, Northern California poultry farms had been hit hard, the elephant seal pup population in Venezuela wiped out, the first penguin infections were reported, and two people seriously infected by H5N1 in Cambodia.

In one sense the Ukraine conflict is over.  In another sense it is dangerously expanding.

Biden and Putin are taking the path to nuclear war.  Biden by providing long range missiles to Ukraine, and Putin by refusing to use sufficient force to bring the conflict to an end before it spins out of control.

Large language models (LLMs) acting as diplomatic agents in simulated scenarios showed "hard-to-predict escalations which often ended in nuclear attacks.

When used in simulated wargames and diplomatic scenarios, artificial intelligence (AI) tended to choose an aggressive approach, including using nuclear weapons, a new study shows.
